I got a postcard in the mail with an offer for 2 free months of free electric. I live in Owings Mills and I get my bills from BGE. I keep getting lots of phone calls from all these different companies, but after I read their website I think get it. This deal from IDT seems like the best Ive seen. Is this legit or a scam and is there anything else better out there? Theres no contract, so what do I have to lose?

I just got a check in the mail and was looking online to remind myselg who these guys were. I knew it had something to do with my electric bill, but wasn't sure if it was a real check. Saw this and remembered that I signed up from a similar postcard I got in the mail. Called thm and they said they are an energy supplier and my fiance signed up with. It's a real check and i guess dinner;s on IDT Energy tonight. Check last months bill and saved a couple bucks to boot. Not a ton, but anything less than than I would have paid sounds legit to me. SO, my opinion - this is NOT a scam. Will update on next month's bill if there is a change

I signed up for this about 7 months ago from Pepco off a coupon I got at a dollar general store. I went back to check and for the last six months my supply bill was less than pepcos. About 2 months ago I got a check from idt energy for $50 and a letter that said Id get another one in a few months. I signed up a friend of mine and got $25 for it. Anything I can pay less for nowadays is a good thing. Hope this helps.

This guy showed up at my door (first at the back door which i never answer) and then the front door, stated he was with peco (our local [power company) he was wearing the idt uniform which looks a lot like our power companies uniform) he totally ignored our sign on the door that states we do not want solicitors of any kind (due to at least fourteen companies wanting us to switch in three years). He would not take no for an answer even though he was courteous, but kept sublty pushing us to say yes ...all your neighbors have signed up etc. would got give us the companies rates only that it would be cheaper. We have alternate supplier for our energy and have 6cent savings on power bill every month. he pushed so hard that our daughter got angry at me and him he was trying so hard to push the switch on us... also using the line don't you want a check? i read the flyer and it seems that to get the checks 1. have to be in good standing and the checks are three months after it is paid at intervals of 3, 6 ,9 and 11 months with three free months....but what it is not saying is that you are prepaying those months. i forgot to ask him if they had a solicitation permit. i finally just asked for a flyer and we would make a determination to get him to leave.

This is a total scam, at least in PA. It called me to switch with two $50 rebate and promised "competitive rate". And in the phone I asked many times about the current rate, the guy just repeated that they compete with "the best price".
The fact is they charge 0.1281 for 02/2014 while my current company offer 0.0568.
Avoid at any cost.

Been with them for a few years. Recently received my bill and they doubled kwh from previous month. paying $749.00 for a 1350 sq.ft. energy efficient HVAC system. Goodbye IDT

Make sure its not a variable rate. For the month of January I received a bill for $1137..... I was anble to switch back to first energy but had to wait to next billing cycle so my february bill is gonna suck too...My KWH went from .07cents to .19cents

Same story as others here. Got a bill for January that more than doubled my KWH rate. Hoping that there will be a class action suit against this company very soon. IDT is bad news.

Just got screwed by IDT too. Been good up to this point, but doubled this billing cycle. Going to be switching first thing Monday morning!

This company is a SCAM! My bill doubled each month until I later realized that they were adding their own fees along with the original gas & electric company. I am beyond upset. I could use the extra $150 for another bill but instead I'm paying IDT. I canceled and will never go with any other energy saving company again.

We just got our bill from IDT and found that it nearly tripled to over $700. I called them this morning to discuss our bill in which I ended up yelling because they didn't seem to care nor have any answers because they didn't know that rates were going to go up that high and they blamed it on the weather in the south. We then called West Penn and got switched back to them and when we told them what happened they said that those prices from IDT are unheard of.

Is it even legal what they're doing? I went from .09 last month, to almost .21 this month. When I called, they're blaming it on the weather. Then, come to find out, I've been paying more for my electric through them, then I would through my Penelec for months now! This month was completely outrageous...$146 more than last month to be exact, and I only used about 200 kw more. Needless to say, I canceled them. Anyone else thinking about calling BBB?

Energy rate suddenly has more than doubled, nearly tripled. Went from .0945 in Jan to .2268. Rate with Met Ed/First Energy is only .0818. For those trying to contact these bastards, just call your regular power company --they can switch it for you without any problem. No way I'm paying it, filing with PUC right now among others. Get it settled or reduced, don't give in, and do not pay.

I have lived in this house for over 20 years and my bill has always been around $50 per month. Today I received my bill and it has jumped up to $110. My rate jumped from .06 kwh to .21 kwh. When I called customer service I was told that they shop around to find the best rate. How can this be the best rate they could find when my provider before I changed has a rate of .06 kwh. This I the worst company I have ever dealt with. When I called customer service to try to fix my rate I was chastised for not understanding how they can charge me the rate they charged. I will never recommend this company to anyone and I am filing a complaint with BBB and with . The worst part is that I can not even get away from them until after my next meter reading which is in the middle of March. I'm thoroughly disgusted!!!!

I hope a class action suit is filed. No company should be able to get away with such unethical behavior. It's hard to believe that they are not regulated by state agencies. I am now paying for an over $700 bill over 12 months as I can't afford it. Thank God I switched in January so hopefully no more idt bills.
