The best there ever could be is Marty Lilly. A good decent moral man. Who could ask for more?

Traditionally speaking, cops disproportionately go after young men. When I was younger, cops would always drive real slow as I was walking down the street asking "what are you doing punk?".

We send our young men off to war, possibly to die. Then they come home where there is no jobs, no college opportunities. 3 out of 4 homeless people are veterans of these United States. You think people like Julie Smith care about this? No. She's a part of the problem. And she has absolutely no solutions.

It's a war on young men out here. Cops come after us for nothing. We go to prison. The women don't care, because they're getting smacked around at home. Kentucky has the highest domestic violence, and child deaths in child abuse cases, and animal abuse than every other state. Why? Are our men that much more violent? Or perhaps it's because our state is failing, just like our civilization. Our infant mortality rate is worse than Mexico's. If you get pregnant, you are more likely to have a healthy baby in Mexico. Is this what our leaders have been doing for the last 100 years?

No one can compare to the excellence and integrity of Marty Lilly. He may not be the most popular but his immaculate record and morality tells the story.

This poll is suggesting the candidate for the next Owen Co. Sheriff and his deputies.
I am not for sure when the position is up for grabs but it is obvious who should run for the position if Zemer decides to retire.
All of our law enforcement officials do a great job and I am very thankful for their dedication and outstanding service to our community.

I dont think that its an accurate accouting of who should be the next sheriff. Just seems to me like many people voting over and over and over again for the one they like, not just voting once and stopping. Don't get me wrong, I like them all except larry but I'm not voting him the least favorite 40+times just to get his name up top, I would rather have a true poll to see who is actually like or disliked the most/least.

yeah that's probably right. gallatin only has one county cop. the sheriff's dept is the real police department there. it's probably similar in owen county, id assume.

Does anyone know when the current term for the sheriff is up? It seems it's been forever since it was on the ballot. Also would like to know when the term for the current mayor is up.

I am amazed at this poll. Wonder why if Zemer's term is up this year, why no one decided to run against him? I think Zemer is a good sheriff but he's getting some age on him.

I would think that no one in his department would run against him because then he would probably fire them and if they didn't win they would not be hired back. Why no one else ran is a good question. And to answer concerned question, there is no county police in owen county, just the sheriffs deparment and city police. They do have constables but i dont think that they do anything except maybe help with the fair or traffic during parades. At least that's the only time i ever see them out.

I see Marty Lilly is ahead of everyone in the poll. He would be a great sheriff. He is one of the finest citizens and christian men, I know. How could Zemer fire his ex son-in-law. That would be a little over the edge. I would vote for Marty in a heartbeat!

I dont think that Zemer would like the idea of one of his own running against him. Plus ( I could be wrong) I dont think that you can be a deputy and also run for sheriff at the same time. And I would vote for Marty over Zemer and think that Marty would do a great job, he has the experience and training needed. Zemer is a good man but I think that we need new blood in the Sheriff's position. I think that if Marty was to run and not win Zemer would not hire him back ex son-in-law or not, I believe he would view it as having underminded his authority. Maybe since Marty didn't run this time he would next time if Zemer doesnt run again. Even if he ran against Zemer, I believe he would have a good chance of winning..I would vote for him. Again, Zemer is a good man, but I agree with the other poster and think that he is getting too much age on him to do the job effectivly.

Awful big gap between 1st and 2nd (singsong voice) someones voting more than once! And, I can't believe that Marving is ahead of Brent. I personally like Brent a LOT more.

In order of who I like best to least it would be brent, zemmer, marty, marvin then I guess larry since he technically "works" in the sheriffs office I would have to include him.
