What if everyone is not as responsible as you are? What methods would be effective to educate people to be responsible, as you have suggested?

Really!? Its stupid responses like that, that give Owen County a poor name. You sound like a certain loud mouthed fat [email protected] that we all know. If you have to ask how to educate a person, then the chances are that you a person who lacks education and you should definitely stay away from any type of substances. Its too bad we cannot regulate stupidity, cause you would definitely be the first one on the list.

The current state laws allow 11% on every dollar of wholesale purchase which would be non-applicable to Owen County.

Current KY Excise tax rates on alcohol:

- Distilled Spirits -$1.92 per gallon but not less than $0.12 per half-pint retail container.

- Distilled Spirits of 6% or less alcohol of the total volume -$0.25 per gallon.

- Wine -$0.50 per gallon but not less than $0.04 per any retail container.

- Beer/Malt Beverages -$2.50 per barrel of 31 gallons.

- 6% sales tax on all sales

- Owen County has the right to set it's own city and county tax rate on alcohol. 5-7% would be the norm for a county of this population and demographic area. At 6%, the county/city govt's would make $60,000 for every $1 million sold, in addition to the portion of excise tax receipts redistributed from the state.

Repeal Prohibition. Thanks

Quit your crying, death is a part life! Why aren't you out boycotting obesity, cigarette smoking, the meth labs, or gun control...all of which have a bigger impact on people lives in Owen County, currently! Remember you are making the assumption that things will get worse. Keep in mind that for years people already drink in Owen County and people already drive drunk in Owen County. This is not a questions of alcohol all of the sudden being introduced to the people of Owen County. The only thing that is going to change is that those same people who already do it will be able to buy their alcohol here in Owen County. So yes, it is about money. Money makes the world go round. Obviously we know your feelings, and we know that you will not be one of those people who signs YES, and thats ok. But don't act like things are all of the sudden going to go deathly wrong in this community, give your neighbors some credit. You are making some huge assumptions and it is clear to everybody else that you are only making an ass out of yourself.

That's well said. it would be a big help to our community.I mean if somebody wants to drink and drive all they gotta do is drive to Sparta. The only reason people don't want it sold here is cause they can be sneaky in Sparta on a Saturday night get there beer get drunk and go to church Sunday morning and bash all of us that do it?
