What is going on with all these young teenagers drinking? Where are the parents? I just recently heard of a party where two parents were doing shots with these kids. Wow they should be in trouble.

I admit I did drink when i was young but not to the point to where I had to go to hospital. i heard that at a party a few weeks ago that a kid was unresponsive and foaming from drinking so much and the dumba$$ adults at the party were too drunk to drive or call an ambulance. I have teenagers and it scares me everytime they walk out the door but I hope they know to call me. and if they do go to a party that the parents of that party or adults are responsible enough to take care of a bunch of teenagers. heard that was a scary situation. I hope the kid is alright.

a twelve year old was taken to the hospital by ambulance intoxicated and unresponsive - dirty shame - some adult should be held responsible and punished for this

parents just let their kids roam all hour of the night. Parents around here have no concern for their children. They drink, date older people they meet online, and end up with kids before they are 18. Its sad.

parents should be responsible. The sad truth is they aren't responsible themselves so how can they be for their children? Their children get their names slandered bc they have no respect for theirselves which they learn from their parents.

Welcome to Owen County where it's cool to be a kid. Where your parents are doing pills and drinking with you. Stupid parents don't deserve kids.

When the baseball team went to play in a tournament a fews weeks ago there were baseball payers that got caught drinking. What makes it bad is that two players only got in trouble and the 4 or 5 didn't. That shows what kind of head coaches we have. They are more concern about winning than they are discipline. No wonder kids do what they do. Look what kind of examples we have as head coach of our baseball team. If it had been my child who had been drinking and was in trouble believe me the other 4/5 kids would have gotten in trouble as well. I admire what the parents did as far as the discipline they set and not letting one play at all. Kids have to learn by their mistakes, but whats bad is the coaches we have are for sure no role models. They cover things up...

I am so glad that my friends chose to take the correct path and not let child continue playing. If the parent is going to have discipline why can't the coaches.

This has always been an issue with the sports in Owen County. Look at the coaches we have and how much they like to party. Things will never change. The kids these days couldn't play for Roy Cochran or Ronnie Dunavent. Coaches need to have some kind of discipline and none of the current coaches have any. Things will never change unless someone comes in and takes over that does have some kind of handle as to what goes on or someone who really does care for these kids. Do the coaches think by what they are doing that they are helping these children? They are only hurting them. Look at the kids who played under Roy and Ronnie and then look at the kids who played under todays coaches. Kids stay in trouble and still play. Back when we played, if you got in trouble off the field it didn't matter. YOU STILL WERE DISCIPLINE.

I was in school during the days of Cochran and Dunavent and if you think the players then weren't drinking and smoking pot you are clueless.

I played in the Roy, Ronnie and Gran days and first of all, do you think none of those coaches had a drink on a regular basis?? Second, last time I checked all of our coaches are of legal age and what they do on their own time behind closed doors or at venues where only 21 year old adults are allowed is their business! As a young adult, my parents taught me to do as I say and not as I do. The real problem today is that parents leave the raising and discipline of their kids to people they shouldn't, like coaches and teachers! Get your head out of the sand and realize this is a much different world than we lived in 30 years ago. Stop blaming your and your child's problems on someone else! If you have a real problem go talk to the athletic director. Oh, that's right you just want to stir up trouble on topix because you have nothing better to do with your time! Get a life and spend your time doing something important!

Coaches should discipline the players when they are drinking while in their care. Yes players did drink back then, but coaches discipline back then. The coaches today have no discipline at all. There were 6 kids drinking that night and my friends son took the rap for it and so did the other boy because he coach told them they couldn't afford to lose all the players due to upcoming games. That is wrong.

Were you there? Did you hear the coach say those words? Did u witness the supposed 6 kids drinking? If you did witness it then I would suggest you report it. If not, then really all you know is the information someone is feeding you. If you've been in Owen county very long you should know you can't believe everything you hear! I'm not defending but I am saying that just because your friends with someone involved doesn't mean you know everything that took place.
