Do you like you Electricity??? Think before you speak, without coal around here we would have nothing!
Do you live beside this proposed coal mine? Do you have children that play outside within 200 yards of a coal mine? Do you have to deal with the trucks, the dust particles all over your home and cars? Of course I like electricity! I'm not even opposed to having the mine. I'm simply asking if anyone else is concerned about possible effects from it (asthma, lung cancer, etc). Another thing, "think before you speak",
there are many other ways to make electricity. Maybe you should think before you answer!
Yes actually I do! Come to Ohio county and I'll show you!
This is the type of redneck that's mind is too closed to see anything. No sense in even arguing. He probably wants his kids to grow up and be miners.

I'm just concerned. I've lived in the city most of my life. We've worked really hard and was just able to build our dream home a few years ago. Now this coal mine may be coming. I'm concerned for my childrens health. I've been reading a lot about the health effects and the effects on the environment. I'm sure selling is not an option. Who's going to want to buy a home that has a mine beside it?!?!

Sell while you can. Weigh the pros and cons of your dream home versus your families health. Material possessions versus health shouldn't be a hard decision. May I suggest to get off topix and get on google? I'm sure it's a lot more informative than a bunch of random smartasses.

My fiancé works in surface mining. Anyone can find out if they do enough research on land bids the mine has put in for. Whatever land you're on was probably placed in a bid 10 years ago. It takes that long in some cases to get permits back to open up new projects.

Once the land is stripped and mined, it becomes useful land again. I'd rather deal with a little dust than Obama's energy plan. And there's a whole new can of worms...

Yes, causes lung and other cancers andasthma in kids. Your home and vehicles will be covered in black dust. After they are done, it takes years to get rid of the dust.

We are highly concerned about the potential project. My wife and I bought our home a year ago with no mention by anyone even neighbors of a potential strip mine 2 miles away. The recent talk of it was the first we heard. We would have bought a different house if we had known this. Our twins have had chronic lung disease since birth and we had hoped living in the country would benefit them. We ARE for coal just not right next door with an ill child.
Would your opinion be any different if it was
your child, spouse, or loved one? We will definately be at the meeting.

Unless you bring millions of dollars with you, the coal mines will win. The government supports whoever is making money for the economy. You might as well move Bub, keep us informed though. I'm anxious for your story to be on here. Let this ignorant hillbillies that see nothing but, "coal keeps the lights on," respond to them not giving a rats ass about you or your family. Coal mining rapes the land and will be a part of the Earths demise.

Utica residents better fight like hell! Living by a coal mine sucks! The blasting is cracking my walls. The trucks are loud and tearing up the roads. The worst part is the cloud of dust in the air after they blast. My kids have been coughing a lot lately and my wife is having headaches a lot. The owner is living high on the hog at our expense. And yes, I do like having electricity.

Don't worry about the mine. We need the jobs and the coal.I live about 1 mile from an active surface mine in Knottsville sometimes we fill the blast and that don't bother me. the only time I really know their working is when I have my windows open at night the backup alarm on the dozers is annoying. A small price to pay for jobs and electric lights.

Besides that, natural gas can make you fart.

i agree with you. They want to keep coal out get natural gas for their power source and no one will be able to afford their bill
