They'll come to an agreement. They always do. They're not closing down.
And it's a great job.

The government wont let that place shut down. We are one of two PURITY smelters in the world. The other is in the Middle East. Our aluminum is used by the military and aerospace industry. Plus it has higher conductivity so it can be used for electric lines. I guarantee the government will step in if Big Rivers threatens to pull the plug on us.

The union will cause the place to close just like green river steel,Both G.E.s the U.S. auto workers. Unions ruined this country, made to many people lazy. They make way to much money and are way to unproductive. I look to see it close. Mexico can make it for a third the price. And will.
sure they will

Unions are what made this country worth living in. The truth is management uses Unions as scapegoats to cover up their poor decisions. Did you know that the percentage of non-union plants closing and going elsewhere is way higher than in Union facilities?

I don't see Southwire laying off anybody cause of century. Why don't century employees take a pay cut to help out there company. They want all of us to pay higher fees but no one has heard of any pay cuts from there management or hourly workers. Y'all might want to give up a little yourselves before asking everyone else to bail y'all out.

century has nothing to do with southwire laying off or not. If cable orders slow down southwire will lay off. When I was there in 2010 there was talks about dropping century anyways and puttin in their own smelter at southwire. And when century was shut down mostly southwire was getting cold metal from other places and pouring their own sowls. So southwire isn't that dependent on century

That's right if orders slow down they would layoff. But same goes for business. No orders no work. And yes smelters are being put in. So century or no century Southwire will still be there.

Century was given millions along with Alcan when Big Rivers took back over the plants,Alcan invested the money into the plant, what did century do with theirs?Century pays ten dollars over our cost for electricity, which is nothing, but they are posting a daily loss according to the plant officials, their management recieved large bonuses shortly after BIG Rivers took back over ,but yet they are losing a million a day, lets see the books, lets see where their money is going, lets see the loss they are talking about.I have seen the media circus,I have seen them whining like a bunch of kids,LETS SEE THE PROOF THAT THEY ARE TELLING THE TRUTH,but then again they are building a plant overseas ,my guess would be that their profit is going in the new plant

What ruined this country is greed. The fact that we don't support American workers first is our downfall. Thank God for unions supporting worker's rights or we would all be living like workers in Mexico or communist china.
