Well, Ron has done more for owensboro ky than any mayor. Except mabey David Adkinson from the 90's. A lot of people don't want change but if we are goning to grow we need change. No one wants to move to owensboro with nothing to do here. But when we get new river park it willl be so very pretty. I also hope we get the state building for the bluegrass. And out new arena where big-E once stood. I know a lot thought E should not have been taken down. But i know for a face it was cracked all over. You could see one inch cracks through the walls.

I think the river project is the greatest thing ever happened to owensboro ky. some never want change. We will get a lot of people moving here and a LOT of jobs moving to owensboro ky. Wait and see ok ? Also i think we need a Country and Bluegrass place downtown to. I am so glad we had no one running . They would have been in the middle of all the construction and new center. My payne is a great person. Just hope river project in moving good by the time B B Q Fest comes. And Friday after 5

Well I think he's an ass! After holding a city council meeting and listening to what the people of Owensboro said an how they felt about the river front project he pretty much told Owensboro that he was the mayor and he was goin to do what he wanted regardless of what we thought. The river front WILL NOT create long lasting jobs. It was a Mistake for our local government to run bayes out of town and it really pisses me off because now that he will never return to this town the city has a great plan to do EXACTLY what he was going to do. Screw Ron Payne, he's a douche.

He has a few nut swingers out there, But the vast majority think the riverfront is a huge waist of money. This is money we all are forced to pay back in form of unwanted tax's.

What do you really think fixing the riverfront will accomplish? Have you ever looked at a riverfront when you decided to move to a town or start a business? No. Do you look at things like property taxes? Yes. All the riverfront has accomplished so far is raise my house payment over $100 a month. So tell me what Mr.Payne has done for me? I honestly hate the buffalos. I think the "Welcome to Owensboro" signs are horribly misplaced. It would have been better if he forgo his salary to pay for another police officer or teacher. That we could use. They could use the money they used to pay the rent on the RiverPark to write me a check. Don't even get me started on that place. Why do we have a place in a working class town that working class people can't afford? If I wanted to take my family to see a play it would cost over $200 usually. Mr.Payne doesn't care about the people of this town.

And a lot of the riverfront was paid for with a federal grant, so it's not just Owensboro footing the bill, it's the entire country.

His ego is unmatched. Please tell me what jobs will be created because of what is going on downtown? Also, did you know that the state decided not to give a penny towards a blue grass museum? Why? Becayse they are worried with nashville being so close, that if nashville builds one too in conjunction with country music museum, which they are considering, well lets just say we would have yet another huge expensive building for the tax payers to absorb. What does payne do with that info??throw it out and full steam ahead!!whats rhat?? Ice berg dead ahead!!!!!

We need a new riverfront but still have homeless people sleeping under the bridge ON THE RIVERFRONT. Anyone else see a problem with this? Why can't we concentrate on the people who are already here rather than bring new people in? Oh wait! We think they're going to bring money to Owensboro. How about helping those with nothing (who actually want something other than a handout-they're out there) get jobs. Won't that bring money too while helping our own? He's only out for one thing...himself.

That's ridiculous in itself most of oeensboros homeless are that way because they won't help themselves. I have heard of people trying to get a few of them jobs and they refuse. So helping them isnt going to help. All of you can believe what you want, I don't like payne, but the river front project was necessary for this town. If more than anything its something to be proud of. The problem with owensboro is there are too many cynics and not enough aggressive business minded people. I know of several businesses already who have started benefiting from downtown development. So maybe you should ask those entepreneuers if its worked for them, because that's what it was all about to begin with.

Sorry Rick, but when your wrong...your wrong. This is not a "business friendly town". Ask anybody that has to deal with the mayor, planning and zoning etc.... They ( the city ) also compete with private companies. Envision Contractors had an inside track to build US Bank, then the city swooped in and offered them the moon. So much for private enterprise! How can a company compete with the city? Also what the heck is this emerging ventures that Madison Silvert is in charge of? Why is he in charge of anything? What is he like 12? Has he ever run a business??? NOPE! But the city gives them over $300,000 of tax payer dollars every year to "create" new businesses and then leases space to them from Malcolm Bryant....what's that smell??? Oh yeah, Home Cooking! How about a little compassion too brother Rick? Not all homeless choose their path. We have shelters that are full but Payne thinks a buffalo statue is more important? Look, the riverfront did need some work. The rest should have been up to private enterprise, what they gave Malcolm to build the hotel will cost us big time. This blue grass museum that is being ram rod up our butts will cost us big time! Wait and see my friend. Hey, I am all for progress, but in a Capitalistic movement, this is big government doing whatever it wants with total disregard for the citizens of Owensboro. Why? Because Ron Payne is brilliant and we are just stupid tax payers! Whatever dude!

Ok I agree it should have more private dollars into the bill, ill give you that. However some homeless don't choose their path? I can't agree if many would stop the drugs and make a dollar the hard way they might need help still but I can't help a homeless man who can't help themselves. I along with thousands of others lost a job and got close to being without an income mcdonalds is not that far fetched when you need a job. As for the process in this city I never said that it was easy but this is suppose to be for the people and businesses have thrived downtown lately. There are other problems down there, and throughout the city that need addressed I for one think the bluegrass museum is a flat joke bad idea from the start. As for a convention center not geared for sports events that's a waste of money if they build itthat way. If we want change its going to take a whole new regime a whole new brand of people willing to stand up to this crap. However, 4 years later the current regime bands back together to throw it all out. I do want change, I don't want to be pushed change but I like the ideas of what's going on. Sometimes you justhave to take that leap of faith and hope it works out. I don't like the bronze buffalos by the way those are awful, butthose are supposedly mayors salary used to buythem. Don't know for sure that is just the media and payne talking.

We are not too far off. I want downtown to be alive. I just think private enterprise should be allowed to do it. I mean, if this is such a no-brainer like Payne says, then people will invest. Paducah went through this about 15 years ago and it failed. They spent millions on downtown and there was a short lived burst of excitement, but then it died. I fear the same here. The bluegrass museum, if he gets it, will be the straw that collapses the camels back. We have ROMP, trust me, they don't want to be downtown. That works great at YellowCreek, we already have a bluegrass museum. Have you ever been? Me either, know anybody that's ever been? Me either. Own any bluegrass music...cd's on your Ipod?? Nope...Lastly, 15 million is what Payne says it will cost. I have it on good authority that it can be done all day long for 7-10 million. But what does he care? Just raise taxes, it's not his money anyway.
