My baby's momma is well over a year behind on child support!! I've been a single father for well over 7 years. I have a great job and yes the mother was ordered to pay support. I really don't need the money, but it's the principal of the matter!

If the roles were reversed, the state of Ky would hunt me down like a dog and have me in court ASAP!! But since its a female aka a mother, the state of Ky drags their feet!

Any money in the past has always been put in a savings for my daughter so that when she turns 18 that she will have money for college or for whatever she chooses to do with it! I support my daughter 120% mentally, physically, emotionally as well as financially!

Everyone that's a parent knows how much it cost to raise a child.... Better yet a teenage daughter that seems to always want new clothes, new shoes or purses.... make up and hair products alone cost a fortune. Let alone gas money and everyday expenses!

Come one "State of Kentucky" be fair and go after those who don't pay child support!! We all know that the child is the one that suffers in the end!!

Obviously, if the court let the daughter live with the father, when he's not even remarried, there must be something very wrong with the mother. She must be in some kind of hell, such as severe drug addiction or something. How do you expect her to earn enough money to pay child support when she's in such hell?

I know of a non-custodial mother who was recently issued an arrest warrant and was sentenced to six months in jail. Unfortunately, after a month or so they had to release her due to over-crowding. They are only suppose to release the person if they come up with the money or time has been served but because of over-crowding the ones who aren't deemed dangerous to society are often released. This of course doesn't mean that they still aren't held responsible for payment. Often times when a mother in the state of Kentucky isn't the custodial parent it is because of severe mental health and/or drug problems or she's young and irresponsible. That being the case, they are usually behind on child support. Doesn't make it right but Kentucky is still pretty much old-school and believes it is in the best interest of the child to live with the mother (especially young ones) unless the mother is found to be unfit, not to mention that many fathers (not all) don't want the full-time responsiblilty. Not in your case obviously. I know another awesome single dad but my question is this...Is it me or do we so often pat a single dad on the back for a job well done but no on seems to point out single moms? Is it because it's so common? I think all responsible single parents should be praised. It's tough especially when the other parent doesn't support their child financially.

Contact the child support caseworker and tell her you want to take action. If you leave a message (which you will) and she doesn't contact you in a timely manner (I use to give mine a week) email the county attorney. This is if of course your child support case is being handled by them. If not, you will need to open up a case.

So my child's father is $20,000+ behind this has been going on for years! I haven't heard from the child support office in probably 4 years and 3 years ago I emailed them. I eventually got a response that since he was in jail there was nothing they could do. REALLY!? Extend him time or something. The child support office is a joke! They were on top of things 10 years ago but not so much now. I don't need the money and my child doesn't need to see the sperm donor but some since of responsibility would be nice.

Not always true. My ex is well over $7,000 behind and they have YET to toss him in jail or even bring him back to court.

Sperm donor? You were never married to him? But you got pregnant by him? And now you talk about responsibility?

Because only married people can be responsible when having children. Tell that to Brad and Angelina...

The state of Kentucky drags it's feet regardless of if it's a man or a woman - if the state would tighten down on people, society wouldn't be so out of control. When there are no consequences, no one cares what the courts say.

I agree - it doesn't matter what personal issues the parents are facing - they are still the parents and it is the parents job to take care of their child. There are a lot of adults who need to realize that THEIR wants are not important anymore - they gave up that luxury when they had a child.
