I can't stand our ER and Dr.T.Z. I came in to Er by ambulance, very sick(knew I didn't want to go but had NO choice)I was having bad pains due to gallstones(I learned earlier that same day)pains in back and side, massive headache, throwing up non stop and fever. The Dr(so called)Dr. Z as they call him, came in and says so, why are you here? I proceed to tell him and he looks at me and says"pick one thing, this is not a clinic and and you can pick one thing" I said are you serious, I was in shock. And he says yes he is serious. I say I can not pick which is worse bc they all go hand in hand(I know and did not expect him to look into all my problems)he says ok, if you can't pick, I pick your side. I was like wth. I've never met such a(I don't know what to call him)meana__! I wanted to leave so back, the nurses were even saying sorry, he is a jerk, but I was too sick. After test and all that, he comes back in and says, it's my gallstones and a virus and he also had the nerve to say, you with your brain tumor are going to be sick, get use to it and I would always be sick. It's the way he said it.I do have a inoperable brain tumor, and do get sick alot but that had nothing to do with what was wrong. I did file a complaint and hate to go to ER, shouldn't be that way, if your really sick, you should not be afraid of your own town ER. Also had more and hear or so many stories of death and bad dr.s. One Dr. in Er once told me I didn't have a brain tumor(like I would lie)bc he didn't see it on CT scan, you have to see it on MRI. Anyways, I would almost rather die then go back.

They don't give a *hit about any patient that is there to be seen, because they have no insurance. Or they can't get in to the McAuley Clinic to be seen. In which the hospital has just taken over the clinic a few months ago.The clinic see's 10 people and that's it. They no longer have evening appointment's. The worst part is there building a new hospital and it's will have the same ole Er Dr's.. Go to St Mary's, it's a wonderful hospital.

first of all, if you think omhs er is so bad just go to u of l (university hospital) or any other hospital in a big city! You will realize omhs is not so bad after that. Second, the nurses, techs, and doctors could care less if the patient has insurance. Patients get treated the same regardless of insurance. If you treat the staff nice they will treat you nice, if you are an ass you will be treated as such.

After hours of false visits for pain meds and other narcotics, I would be a little irritated as well. I'm sure the percentage of bogus visits per day is unreal, and I'm sure a great majority are medical card recipients.

I'm sorry truth I have to disagree with you on this one. I came to the er having bad pains in my stomach. They came in said I had a virus. Not even a month later I came back for the same pains dr told me it could be because it was close to me having my cycle. I came back with blue cross insurance the third time they laid out the red carpet CT scan fluffed pillow and warm blankets. I have never been rude to any nurse doctor or tech and got treated better because I had insurance.

Whether or not you have insurance is not affecting your care. Its not posted on your chart who your insurance is. In fact you have to go to a specific area in Epic to even see who your insurance is and for that matter its kind of a pain to get to. The only person who sees it is the one who comes in and does your registration and thats it. Furthermore just because you hand them an insurance card there is no garuntee that the insurance is active. That hospital gets paid whether they turn your file over to charity or they can write it off. The people in the ER get paid the same regardless of your insurance status so frankly they dont care if you are insured or not. If you get somebody who treats you badly then file a formal complaint so that these people can be dealt with.

I had to take my son their once for being sick in the night and I will agree they are rude, like it is very taxing for them to listen to your meaningless problems. As far as I am concerned they fit in right with most of the people in this in rude, blow hard, sink hole of a town. This whole area is nothing but everyone trying to fuck everyone, but it is all dicks and no holes.

I was misdiagnosed four times within three months. They kept telling me I had a uti, which I very well may have, but they refused to run further test. The fifth time I went, they finally listened to me and I had them check my kidneys. I had a massive stone and surgery was a must. The doctor said it had to have been there for months for it to have been as large as it was. Their ignorance and "neglect to care" costs me hundreds.

Let me educate you all about something because this whole "I was misdiagnosed.." really gets old. When you go to the ER they do the best they can to get everyone in and out without any immediate life threatening issues. They are there to stabilize you and get immediate consults if the issue is urgent. Every single time you leave rhat ER you get this nifty little paper called discharge instructions. Every single one starts by saying it is recommended that you follow up with Dr *** in 1 week. The doctor is normally your regular doctor or a referral to someone who will see you. It is YOUR responsibility to follow up. If you continue to go back to the ER they will continue to refer you to another doctor. Emergency room doctors are NOT specialist. My husband went in with a knot and they said its probably a cyst but follow up with this urologist in a week. We did. It turned out to be a tumor and it was treated. Stop relying on the ER to cure and diagnose you and FOLLOW the instructions you are given. It has nothing to do with insurance or whether or not they care it is because they are not trained to specialize in your specific issue. They are there for emergency situations.

First of all truth, I do not treat anyone like a ass, and second, I was too sick to think of treating someone like and ass, that's not me. I was very nice and SICK and just wanted help, he was the ass.

don't need any negative comments, everyone KNOWS how the Er is, there has been ALOT of things happen, everyone seems to have a story oe know someone who does, My point is, I wish they would show people that come in there some respect, we are paying their paycheck. I never said I didn't have Ins. I do. Dr Z was wrong, I reported him and the staff agreed. So, what I'm saying is if a Dr.(any) treats you bad or down grades you, report them. There are good Dr.s in Owensboro, Dr.Sayed, Dr. Eggers and Dr. Glaser and many more, just say this Dr. is not a good Dr. and I heard he is leaving town soon, and they are hiring two full time in house Dr.s for the Er. And the nurses are good.

<quoted text>You should have taken your sick son to his pediatrician or family doctor during the regular business day, not to the ER. "ER" stands for EMERGENCY ROOM, its not called the "SR" SICK ROOM, or the "IDFSGR" I DONT FEEL SO GOOD ROOM, its ONLY for EMERGENCIES which your son was apparently not having, so yes you were treated as a NON-EMERGENCY as what it was. And if you didn't have insurance you needed to pay CASH before you were treated bc you wud prolly never pay it anyways. The OMHS ER is the best ER in the nation with good doctors and the BEST NURSING staff.
Thats not true about needing cash. The ER doesnt ask for anything up front which is the #1 reason people go there. Convenient care wants payment up front as well as most doctors. If you tell the hospital you are uninsured they will send you forms to fill out to qualify for their charity program.

The ER itself is run by a totally different company hired by the hospital. It has been for a long time and not too long ago it was taken over by a new company. The ER doctors are always changing. There are only a few that have been around a while and stayed with the new company. So hiring 2 new docs? Big deal like I said the ER docs are constantly changing. The best thing you can do is go to your followup. There are several doctors in town who will try to work something out paymentwise. Lots of them work with referrals from the McAuley clinic as well knowing they wont ever see a dime from you.

The people who work in the hospital are people just like any other place. They are not immune to rude. You are going to encounter rude people everywhere you go. It is the responsibility of administration to train and monitor such behaviors.

The ED physicians are contracted through an outside agency. The ED is not "run" by physicians, the administration for the ED are hospital employees and have always been. There is a manager, director of ED who is under a vice president and so on, all hospital employees. Bottom line, they suck. Once you are admitted to a regular room the nurses and physicians are sooo much better. They actually know what's going on with you and really care. The ED gives the whole hospital a bad name.

If u think the hospital is bad, wait til you get old and have to go to a nursing home. The hospital will seem like the mayo clinic compared to any nursing home in Owensboro. Don't believe me. Your not spending enough time there.

I took my 16 year old son there for chest pains. Come to find out a virus had attacked his heart. I am grateful for the care we received there. The nurses there work very hard and are treated like crap!!! This place is abused by too many drug seekers....listen up people...putting trash like this on this site makes Owensboro and it's people look like idiots!!!
