We are terribly unhappy and do not trust each other.

Trust issues. Always.

I don't see it that way. I think they trust each other
enough to combine them. Grown adults who don't
have time for the games or traps that social media accounts have the potential to cause. They use it for the right reasons; family and to stay connected with friends. That being said, my FB account is not a combined one.
But you wish it was! Hahahahaha!

I think alot of them are due to control/trust issues. Esp when they used to have seperate ones then combine them? However, I know two couples where it seems like it started as the wife, then she added her hubby later as if she was just trying to get him included or interested.

It's irritating. You never know who is making the post. Just confusing.

It's sad.

Why not just let your partner brand you or mark you as their territory like other animals do, too?

I love my husband enough that if branding my a$$ is what married people do, I. Would do it without a pause! Bc I'm in this sh*t until death do we part!! But the whole fb thing, that's ;)

Control, trust issues. It's never a sign of a good relationship!

Most of the couples on my FB friends list that share an account I wouldn't say have trust issues. At all! A lot of them are older couples who use FB to keep in touch with family or friends. I dnt think it has anything to do with trust issues...just the way they choose to do it. But I could be wrong.

I'm not young by any means and in my opinion the people who share profiles or have each other's log in info do so because they don't trust one another and it's their passive-aggressive way of keeping tabs on each other. The young and old alike are guilty of not completely trusting their partners. Being supportive of one another and knowing the other person is always there for you is one thing, but not allowing them the freedom to have a private life away from you is just resentment waiting to happen. If you can't trust them, or if they can't trust you, there is no real love in the relationship and it's time to let each other go.
I've talked to people who's partner had the log in info to their Facebook, email, Myspace and in some cases even their Xbox accounts and trust me, they resent it. One even described it as their partner treating them like a child. Not to mention their friends and family resent not ever being able to have a private conversation with them. Another thing that will harbor resentment is checking your partners phone. Be in love, be together, but respect each other's privacy.

Me and my partner share our passwords but it is not because of trust issues. It's for if he needs me to take care of something for him when he is unable or vice-versa. We do not go through each other private life. We just have access to it!!
