Aleris filed bankruptcy several. Years ago!

Bankruptcy does not mean the place closes!

It means it restructures and doesn't have to raise rates on EVERYONE because of their debt!

Century has been thru many years of bad management. They broke their contract with big rivers ( who Can't seem to manage either by the looks of their debt). Both companies are playing with the lives of hundreds of families and local business'. They need to get their acts together and run both companies in a way that will provide for present and future families of this area!!

Century is in talks to buy Rio Tinto Alcan Sebree. When Big Rivers takes bankruptcy, Century will OWN the grid and it will be a sweet deal if you know how to make money producing aluminum.

At that point even the Century management lightweights will be able to turn a nice profit for the man.

Ok, I would definitely hate to see Century close. But, lets ask ourselves this...why can't century pay the electric bill? I'm tired of hearing the excuse about the price of aluminum. If the prices are too low then maybe there's no market for the aluminum anymore. Why should big rivers cut century's bill? Nobody gives me a better rate on my bills if I can't pay them! See where I'm comin from? But then again, big rivers is being rather greedy!! Like I said, I'd hate to see either place close because of the employees and their families. The community would suffer a great loss. I just hope they can get something figured out, soon!!

Century/Rio Tinto will be the new power company. Excess reserve power will be sold to consumers. Century will own the grid.

If Big Rivers can be bankrupted the power units will be sold to the smelters. They will then own "captive power plants" to supply power for the smelters.

At that point they will "own the grid" (their words not mine)

My husband works there. He was in plant wide meetings. The north american vp of centurys operations says it is NOT cost effective to own the power plants because the power plants have to much debt. So you DO NOT MAKE SENSE!
