What are some lesser known pros and cons of these stimulants?

Also is it bad that I only feel ambitious and secure about "not being lazy" when I'm on one or the other? I don't mean to say I'm dependent but I notice I don't have any anxiety about the tasks at hand. Everything seems manageable. Concentration is fantastic. I wish I could have been this focused in school.

Are there adverse side effects to long term usage?
Does the body gain tolerance to it? Do you feel like you have to increase dosage to gain the usual effect?

Are there alternatives to these? Any natural ways to train yourself to be motivated and ambitious?

I know it's sad that naturally I am, for lack of better words, lazy and slightly anxious. But for some people it is more of a problem than for others.
Don't get me wrong, amphetamines and stimulants are dangerous and NOT to be abused, but in controlled responsible circumstances they 'help' me. Is it bad that my body doesn't function like it technically 'should' and that I feel the need to in essence manipulate it to work 'correct'?

I get that "lazy" feeling all the time. Mine is more of an "I'm so overwhelmed I can't do anything" and just spend 5 minutes here or there trying to complete a task and never finish.
Try looking into food sensitivities or allergies. That may be the culprit with the anxiety. For example, some people are sensitive to dairy or gluten, certain additives in foods or any combination. Everyone is different. Changing my eating habits has helped immensely with the anxiety but I still have add. I have to spend a lot of time planning out trips to the store, small projects and yet I still fall short somehow. I can't even plan more than 1-2 errands a day. A quick trip to the store can easily turn into 2-3 hours. My best suggestion would be to see a therapist if you don't already.

You build a tolerance for drugs
And need something stronger
Some people hate resorting to drugs and try to do it on their own and it takes a lot of work

If you get overwhelmed on the drug, you probably DONT need it. JS!

Don't smoke marijuana. I have worked with people that were ADHD, but wouldn't be if they didn't smoke marijuana.

Are you saying weed makes people think they are ADHD?

I never said I was taking adderall or vyvanse. I'm actually off of it at the moment, which would explain why I got nothing done this weekend. And when I say small projects, that means making dinner or doing laundry! It takes forever to do anything. Topix doesn't help either but before I realize it, I'm distracted and then move on to something else forgetting what my original task was.

I understand that. As much as it helps you concentrate it also helps you get off task that much more efficiently.

I'm curious to see if there's a way train yourself / obtain that feeling of "I'm better off being productive" by natural means other than the stimulants.
I know some people were properly conditioned by upbringing to be productive and whatnot but some people didn't have such structured environments... It's hard growing up after-the-fact...

My son takes Vyvanse and has been on the same dose for almost 2 years. I would say they help some while hurt others? Not everybody is made the same. We did a trial period without the medication to see if he could "cope" with the symptoms of being ADD without it, and it was a wreck! His grades went from A-B honor roll to a D, F, and C's and also was in the office 3 out of 4 days. It's obviously not optional for him at this point, but they offer classes with ways to deal without medications if you're scared of the side effects.

I don't have very many nice things to say about either of these drugs.
The comedown always felt like I'd just had the sh*t kicked out of me, I'd go a long time without eating and then once I came down I'd be starving.
Sleeping was different, because I'd have to counteract the speed with some kind of downer.

Parents out there, just know that what you're putting your kids on is watered down speed, and there's the possibility that these temporary benefits could actually turn into long-term problems. Vyvanse and Adderall are both amphetamines.
I felt like laughing in my psychiatrists face when she told me how dangerous occasional marijuana use was when she was just writing me a script for some real drugs.

I was given vyvance a couple of months ago because Im struggling with my job and a few other down falls, and my doc said I didn't need to take it everyday. Well, if I dont take it I lay around at home on my days off and feel like I have the flu. I dont know what Im going to do if I stop taking it. I take 30mg when I take it. My anxiety and depression are extremely amplified just one day with out it. I take the lowest dose too because the 50 makes me stay up to much. I would not give the to my child for nothing. I really wouldn't.
