I'm so tired of the schools closing over any little thing!Teachers now days just don't want to do their jobs.So there is a little ice on the road that's supposed to clear up by noon, that isn't really bad anyway...so we just wont go to work,AGAIN!If mouse used the bathroom in the middle of the street or city, and county schools would use that for an excuse to skip work.I thought the problem used to be with the kids skipping school! Now,it's the teachers who want to skip school!Lazy and pathetic!

It's not about the teachers. It's about the school busses in icy roads, especially for the kids that live on the outskirts of town.

Yes, the school system is pathetic! Can't believe they wouldn't consider allowing thousands of children to get on school busses that travel untreated, country roads! They might not slide off into a ditch and cause injury or death to them!
You, my dear are pathetic! And before you reply, no, I am not a teacher! I am a parent that just happens to have the day off and would have loved to had the house to myself for a bit today to get caught up on housework. Instead, I get to keep my children home safe with me.
Think logically next time before posting crap like this!

the teachers do not make the decision to close the school!!! What you just said makes no sense at all!

Teachers are indeed lazy these days. They don't teach anymore. They just send home work for the parents to do with the children. That's like working a full time job and then coming home and working some more. It's ridiculous. I'm glad the kids get a snow day now and then. Tree day weekend. I think it's great.

This post likely came from one of the parents who ships their child off to school, even when they're sick! Probably a parent who leaves them there all day, after school program and all, even when they're off. It's the parents who think the teachers are supposed to raise their kids that really get upset when school closes down. Sorry, today you'll have to take care of your own child!

Do you think all the teachers got together and decided they'd like to stay home? It's not their choice and if it WERE I'm sure they would rather have had school today as opposed to tacking on an extra day at the end of school when the weather is nice! The school systems would rather be safe than sorry ... They've been sorry instead of safe before and learned a lesson. If there is snow happening during the middle of the day school will STILL be cancelled ... There have.been several accidents ( and a death) related to early dismissal.

I live in the country and our driveway is 500ft from the road. Right now is a solid sheet of ice. I drive my children to School, its about 30 minutes normal time. So im thankful to have another snow/ice day with them..

Teachers, have nothing to do with deciding if schools are closed. Transportation goes on some of the outer roads checking to see how slick they are. If schools are closed it must be bad. Soo shut up shinning. Be glad ur kids are safe....

I live in town, but live on a HUGE steep hill. I actually tried to get to work, but didn't want to risk trying to get down the hill after I got my car stuck on a side road, trying to turn around. It is a complete mess out there. Schools should be closed.

I barely made it up my road. It's worse than it looks! Today's decision to close the schools was warranted.

It is our jobs as parents to do homework with our children and teach them. This homework is over what the teacher has taught your child in class. The teacher likes for your child to come home to practice what they've been taught. You doing homework with your child is going to set them up to do good in school.

We must not be lazy as parents or we will set our children up for failure.

Well I can tell you, that if school had not been cancelled my kids wouldn't have went! I drive my kids to school & I'm not risking the safety of my kids for ANYTHING. I went to work while my kids were safe at home with their father until I got off so he could go to work. Anything can happen & there are a lot of idiots & inexperienced drivers out there. I trust my driving. But I don't trust everyone else. Would you have felt better if school wasn't cancelled & a high schooler that just got their license had an accident & died or hurt your kids in the accident?? I'm sure then you'd be the parent screaming that school should have been cancelled!! But you seem like the type of person/parent that is never satisfied with what anyone does. Damn, be glad you got to spend the day with kids. Bake some damn cookies, paint pictures, or pop some popcorn & have a pajama & movie day with them. Oh but wait, then you would have to pay attention to them, my bad. Grow the f**k up moron
