I have a "pit bull" and I am currently looking for a rental company with no breed restrictions OR a private landlord. My dog is house trained and he is an inside dog. He is kenneled inside when I am not at home, but that is it. Please help! Thanks.

Pits get a bad rap because they are the #1 dog who attacks and kills kids. Hope you do not have a kid or have any kids around.

My neighbors Pit chased MY kid in MY yard once. Have not seen that dog since. Do all dogs go to heaven?

Okay, I almost got attacked by a pair of Bassett hounds as a kid. It's not just pits. I own a pit and he loves everyone. You're a narrow minded individual who wants to see that pits are bad dogs when there's plenty more "bad" dogs out there beside pits.

People who own Pits are stupid and think it will never happen to them. Hey morons, all breeds of dogs are bred to do specific things, for which they were bred.

And Pits were bred to be aggrssive END OF STORY. And you are not going to change all of those generations of breeding by wishing YOUR DOG would never be aggresive. END OF STORY

“Pit bull” is not a breed, but a “type” that encompasses several registered breeds and crossbreeds. Therefore, statistics that claim “Pit bulls” are responsible for some percentage of attacks are lumping many separate breeds of dogs together, then comparing those statistics to other dogs that are counted as individual breeds. There are currently 25 breeds that are commonly considered a “pit bull”.

Myth: Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are human aggressive by nature.

Fact: Studies by the Center for Disease Control have proven that no one breed of dog is inherently vicious. The CDC supports the position that irresponsible owners, NOT breed, is the number one cause of dog bites.

Myth: Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are inherently vicious.

Fact: No more vicious than Golden Retrievers, Beagles, or other popular “family” dogs. In a recent testing done by The American Canine Temperament Testing Society (ATT), pit bulls achieved a passing rate of 83.9%, passing 4th from the highest of 122 breeds. That’s better than Beagles, passing at 78.2 and Golden Retrievers passing at 83.2%. The average passing rate for ALL breeds is 77%.

Myth: Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are responsible for most fatal dog attacks.

Fact: From 1965 – 2001, there have been at least 36 different breeds/types of dog that have been involved in a fatal attack in the United States.(This number rises to at least 52 breeds/types when surveying fatal attacks worldwide).

When dog bite statistics are taken into consideration versus the population,“Pit Bulls” come in at the BOTTOM of the list.
sooo ..

The only reason numbers have risen for pits is bc of rise in stupid ppl that raise them to be vicious.

You are as ignorant as a lot of the pitbull owners that have dogs that attack. We have a pitbull. She is very sweet. We also have a 7 month old baby. My dog has never shown any signs of aggression but I still have sense enough to not leave my child alone with the dog. Even just going to the bathroom I either put the baby in her crib or leave her where she is and call the dog onto the opposite side of the baby gate as my child. I dont believe my dog would hurt anybody including the baby but I dont take any chances nor would I with any other type of dog. Part of the problem with these dog attacks is that the owners are irrisponsible.

This post wasn't asking what you think of the breed. I've grown up around them my whole life, they have better temper than a gold retriever and I've NEVER been attacked or close to even THINKING I was about to be attacked. Society is the way it is because of shallow people like you. Being racist against a dog is the same as being racist against a human.

I'm not here to argue, my dog is lovable and I know that and everyone that meets him knows that. Ignore everyone who says different about your pups one day their dog will be breed restricted and they will know how it feels.

The problem as far as renting is that no matter how gentle and docile your dog is there have been way too many irresponsible owners who have let their dogs do damage. Anybody can say their dog is harmless etc but not everyone will be telling the truth and renters are not going to meet your dog and okay it. The funny thing to me is that i have never heard of a renter with kid restrictions and between crayon marks on the walls and red koolaid carpet stains i have seen kids do more damage than a dog.

You already know having a baby and a Pit Bull is wrong. If your Pit was so sweet why do you not leave our baby alone with him/her?

And NO the problem is not the owner, it is the breed.

I got on the internet and researched the Pit Bull Breed and found many, many, many stories about how the breed came about and what they were bred for.

And almost all of them acknowledge that Pits were bred to be agressive.

So when your pit goes off on someone, you can re-read your myths.

Showng good judgment around a dog breed that was bred for aggression is not the same as being a racist towards a human. Just shows that people with Pits are not very smart

the fact that u think like that makes YOU dumb as hell. And how is not the same? Your judging a breed by stories you've heard. I'm sure you'll come back with a off the wall response cause u seem that stupid. We who love the breed will not sway against jackasses like u. U wastin ur breath doesn't hurt my gorgeous SWEET GENTLE cuddle bunny. I love my dog so go hit up a bridge and dive off b***h.

Regardless of whether or not a pit bull is sweet or vicious, some insurance companies won't insure a rental property that has one living in it. I've had to ask renters to get rid of their pits or move. It's awful bc I'm an animal lover & believe some dogs can be trained to be very sweet. However, you may not find anyone who rents that will allow a pit bull simply bc the insurance company's won't allow it. Best of luck!

Thank you for proving my point about how stupid you are.

Fact dogs are dogs and people are people. I can hate any and every dog and that in no way equates to being a racist. You are assinging human traits to a dog, no matter how cute you think it is, itis still a dog and not a human. It is dark have you taken down your Rebel flag?

The statement, "Being racist against a dog is the same as being racist against a human." Has got to be the single most ignorant statement I've ever heard! The fact that you equate human rights with dog rights shows you're about as intelligent as a brain dead hippo.

Notice I had to add in "brain dead" to the hippo. With out seemed like a horrible insult to the hippo.
