well. i contacted the proper authorities. and they are getting in trouble for violating the smoking ordinance. every time i go by there i see kids running around in there. the poor kids dont deserve to be exposed to second hand smoke.the health cdepartment told me they were sending them a warning and making them put up signs. and if they continue to violate the ordinance they will be fined for every violation. i hate the 8 ball/skank ball and i will call and report them every time i see kids in there.

If your so high and might lady, what the hell are you doing "walking" around in that area anyhow? The block is half businesses not unlike the 8 ball. Do you happen to own a home in this ungodly area? or, perhaps you stay in the motel across the street. I don't know, and don't care. If you are going to raise up your brown nose in this way, call the paper, don't come onto this site where you're going to get bashed for your "Christian goodness". It's not wanted, and sadly, your loneliness is overrated.

Those kids exposed to the second hand smoke...has it occurred to you that they're being exposed to it at home as well?
You can't save the world. There will be some parts of it you do not enjoy. You should stay away from those parts if you find you don't like them. It is perfectly possible to visit StVdP, the plasma center, Save a Lot, or Family Dollar without ever having to walk by 8 balls windows and seeing the innocent waifs wistfully looking out while gasping for air.
Try it. Try to live and let live. It's better for your heart, it's better for your attitude. Find a cause that needs support, and give gladly. This isn't it.

for one i hate the 8/skank ball and there is nothing but white trash that goes in there, all i ever see is nasty ass bikers and homeless looking people going in there. im not the only one complaining. the county attorneys office told me they have been gettin a lot of complaints lately. and they are gonna do something about the smoking ordinance being violated. no one under 18 is allowed in a smoking establishment (AT ALL) they are issuing a warning this week and fines for violations after the warning and whatever means deemed appropriate afterwards. i have to obey laws or face the consequences and so should the skank ball.

Mea culpa, concerned.
The link regarding the smoking ordinance is as follows:
http://www.mc.uky.edu/tobaccopolicy/Ordinance...

You'd have a better chance of getting people to see your side without the inflammatory language against people who do frequent the facility, though.

Keep it simple, and to the point. Smoking is happening in a facility that allows children. Calling it skank ball, and calling the customers that go there names is burying your primary objective, and making you seem...a bit preoccupied with the restaurant itself rather than a violation of the ordinance. The link details the penalties involved, and who to contact.

Calm down a bit, and you'll find that people are more willing to listen to a reasoned argument.
Good luck:-)

If they stay there poisoning their young 'uns with the toxic cigarette smoke, they won't be polluting your area of the town. Maybe those little homeless white trash biker babies will die off soon and your children won't have to worry about being around such an undesirable element.

Why is it you're there so often again...?

Be grateful places like that exist. Perhaps hope that you never need plasma so none of the tainted stuff has to come into contact with your innocent souls.

Yes, concerned, I figured you'd be familiar with the ordinance. There may be other people who are not, though. The link was for them:-) The more complaining about it, the worse the city looks if they still refuse to do anything about it.

i do agree the 8 ball is trashy. not many go in there and has really changed but since having a kid i havent been in there much. and yes the eating is separated from the actual bar but there is still smoking going on in the eating part as well. i have even seen cops bring their children in there to sit down and eat. had a friend who worked there and quit because of crappy pay and alot of under the table type dealings going on too. i think since david payne died didnt our lovely mayor take it over????

Concerned, let me put this clearly so you'll understand:

YOU IGNORANT, BUSYBODY, MEDDLING B!TCH. You have absolutely no business poking your nose into what goes on in the 8 Ball, or anywhere else for that matter. Just because you've labeled someone "white trash" doesn't mean you have the right to harass them. Stay the hell away from there if you don't like it.

I pray that there is someone on their cell phone to 911 every time they see you speeding, throwing out a piece of litter, or rolling through a stop sign. Then maybe you'll think twice before harassing/nitpicking someone for violating some minor ordinance.

Get a life, b!tch.

the 8 ball is a dirty trashy establishment, i would starve before i would eat there. most of the patrons look homeless, and it is filthy inside, they need to close that trashy place down. they also violate the city wide smoking ordinance by allowing people to bring their kids in there to eat, i have reported them to the city twice and i urge all fellow citizens to do the same.

It IS in fact violating the ordinance. Is there a separate ventilation system, even if the smoking were just happening in the bar area? And it's not blocked off, just a long hallway, which technically is a violation if kids are allowed to be in the restaurant part-where people are smoking anyway.

She (I'm assuming, I'm sorry, maybe cause women are just more likely to do something they're concerned about) stopped with the name calling of the customer base and was just focusing on the violation of the ordinance!
Others were doing the name calling the past few days.

Some people get upset about puppies being treated poorly, some people get upset seeing children in a smoking area, some people just get pissed off cause dammit, it isn't RIGHT, and things should be.
I'm one of those that wants to stop in at businesses and make them fix misspelled signs. No, it's none of my business, it just simply irks me to no end. One of my quirks. Everyone's got them.

Sorry, just had to jump in again:-) Something about seeing that #reply(ies) up there just makes you wanna click and keep up the conversation. Not enough good debate clubs when we were kids, maybe;-) Perhaps just a contrary nature!

customers sit in the restaurant part of the buisness and smoke right in front of the kids. the health department told me they always get wrote up for the dining area being dirty they focus on the kitchen area of all food establishments. but they do take away points for dirty dining areas. i wont eat in any restaurant that has a dirty dining area.

This is a public forum...it is his and anyone elses business. THAT is the only point.
MYOB wrote:
I think you missed my point. What are you gaining by poking your nose in the business of those who do choose to go in the 8 Ball? And since you make it VERY clear that setting foot in there would be beneath your oh-so-lofty dignity, you have no way of knowing the at 8 Ball separated the bar area from the restaurant area, specifically so families with children could eat in the restaurant without violating the smoking ordinance.
But again, the bigger point is that you need to MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS. Listen to Jessica and find some real problem to b!tch about. There are plenty around. Or let me go out on a limb here: you're probably single and have a bunch of cats. Spend some time with them. But leave people alone who are not harming you. Quit being one of those mealy-mouthed busy bodies who sit on their porch and grouse because their neighbors don't live their lives according to your far superior (in your warped opinion) standards. Your life will be happier if you find something to do other than sit in a parking lot and call 911 every time someone dares goes in a restaurant with their child.
