Oops, I meant 5-6 year olds.
I have played sports at a higher level than you have ever played. I have coached at much higher levels than LL.

So I am very aware of what is 'coming my way'. And so when I say how these coaches acted and behaved was horrible at the 5-6 year old level, I know what I am talking about.

They coached and acted in the way we hope coaches DO NOT act at this level.

So you and "Really" are the same person? Cause that is who the post was directed at.

I love to hear people justify how is it OK to run up the score in a 5-6 year old game. And yes I am saying that they went undefeated because they did not have a girl on the team. Explain to me again how 1 teams has 5 girls most had 2or 3 and they had none??? It was by design. Ask THEM why they did not want any girls.
Agreed

How about you address the point they made? Instead of questioning who they are?

Proud Parent's earlier post pretty much sums it up. Very well written. "Point" is just saying they traded 2 girls away. I am not involved in the picking of SLL teams. If that is what they did, then all the coaches and the board member present must have allowed it during the draft drawings. Be mad at the ones that traded too and who allowed it. Good grief, move on.

You can be as proud of your daughter as I am of mine. But yes unfortunalty at this age level boys have a distinct advantage in playing ball as a whole. Go watch a 5-6 yr old softball game and tell me there is no difference.
And it has nothing to do with keeping score. It has to do with running the score up when not needed. I have watched other teams move players around once they knew they were going to win. But not this team, it was all about running the score up. Horrible to watch how the coaches acted.
I literally laughed out loud when I read this. My daughter used to play at SLL & was equal to or better than most of the boys there. Coaches told their kids to back up when she came up to bat & she only played the outfield when they played a hard hitting team because she has a hell of an arm. Lol you are an idiot! She hasn't played there in a few years & I'm so glad because based on this thread, that place is going straight to hell.

Amen! Ticked me off to see this person claim that girls are inferior to boys. Glad someone else sees this too.

Well the girls just brought our team down. That is why I am mad they had all boys. If our team had all boys we would have won more games.

This site is out of control. I am done posting here. Now someone else is posting under the name "Proud", claiming the "....we went undefeated..." post. I didn't even have a kid in this group. Any further posts from "Proud" are not from me. You all have fun arguing. I'm out.

It's hard to believe that so called 'adults' spend their time arguing Tball. I'm almost embarrassed to even comment further, but I feel the need to call out those commenting about the wins and losses and the 'despicable' coaches. First off, it's Tee ball. I think I speak for most when I say GET A LIFE. secondly, just because other teams had girls doesn't automatically make them inferior teams. And lastly, instead of spending your time on here complaining, get out and work with your kids to improve their abilities. If you're not knowledgable in the area of baseball and its fundamentals there are plenty of camps and clinics to help your child improve. You really just sound like a bunch of sore losers.

You are right it is T ball, so why would these coaches do the things they did to just win????

Happy my kid will be 13 next year. All the drama in this league is giving SLL a bad name and I wish the best for the coaches that are in it for the kids, after all it's about them and them only.

Jeff Everett said he would take all of your kids over at Eastern whenever you all get done tearing Southern down. Of course all your kids will play behind all the kids already at Eastern but hey atleast they might get a chance to play. He said you could thank him later.

You sure that you want some of the parents at eastern? They will bring cancer. Good grief, there is one parent crying about a tball league and an undefeated team because "they had no girls". Most families are ok, but a few of them....well just read these threads.

Maybe you should all try the Owensboro Catholic League. We really are in it for the kids.

My son played for the Marlins and everything said in this thread is ridiculous. First of all, it's sexist to sit there and act like girls cause teams to lose, or the lack of girls cause teams to win. It's offensive to anyone who has a daughter, mother, sister, aunt or is just a normal human being. The team had two girls on it. One of the girl's parents pulled her from the team so she could be on another team with her friends. The other girl's parents asked that she be traded to a team where they knew the coach. That trade gave us our first baseman and one of the best players in the league. Another thing, how do you run the score up? Do you expect teams to tell the kids that only want to hit the ball to not swing? Win at all costs mentality is the furthest thing from the truth. There were teams that threw two pitches to every player when they played the Marlins and lined the kids up to hit to the third base side of the field, that's winning at all cost mentality. And as far as Bob Williams, the coach some are complaining about, he challenged when rules were not being enforced and he was right every single time he raised an issue. We pay to have our kids taught baseball and learn the rules and to go by the rules. Bob did nothing but that. The team went undefeated because they played like a team. They made big plays when big plays were needed. Also, on three separate occasions we pulled our team from batting with one out to not run the score up. If those coaches are coaching a team when my son gets to be 7, I'll do my best to get him on that team. The team started with four coaches and ended with the same four coaches. We are supposed to be adults here. People should be ashamed and embarrassed to make false allegations and say outright lies. You can't say that our shortstop threw runners out at first because we didn't have a girl on the team. You can't say the third baseman throwing kids out at first did so because we had a win at all costs attitude. The kids played the game the way it is supposed to be played. You can't take away the pitcher running kids down and tagging them out at home. Every single player stepped up at one point or another and grew as young men and baseball players. The coaches didn't throw underhanded to the kids. They didn't throw two pitches and put a tee in front of them. The coach struck his own son out in a game winning situation by not putting the tee out. The Marlins deserve respect for what they did this season, both the coaches and the players.

There's no politics in the 5&6 age group. There was no favoritism at work. I think it's unfair to the kids on the team and the parents that worked with those kids in their free time to make them better and the coaches that encouraged them to grow. I read they're only 5&6 and it shouldn't be taken that seriously but apparently you're taking it more serious than anyone affiliated with the Marlins this season by voicing displeasure in a group of kids achieving more than they could have ever imagined.

I think it's a crime to sit back and criticize and not recognize the determination and confidence building that occurred. We were down in several games and came back to win. The Marlins didn't just roll over everyone. They earned those wins. They have a better understanding of commitment, team unity, pride in accomplishment and hard work paying off.

It's unfortunate that people choose to criticize instead of celebrate. We set the examples for these kids and making excuses, saying things that are not true and demeaning what a group of great kids were able to accomplish is not what youth baseball is about. It's about learning disciple, work ethic, building confidence, learning to work within a team unit to achieve a collective goal. learning humility, triumph, listening to direction, and being a good sport in victory or defeat.
