My nephew plays for southern and I must say he is the best ball player I have ever seen! His team won championship and I'm sure he will again this year make the all star team.......which he rightfully deserves! It disgusts me how angry and mean some parents have gotten here.....yes I have kids of my own baseball is not their thing, I mentioned all the hatefulness to my sister who's son plays and she has no clue of any of this........ Not all the preppy more fortunate kids and parents deserve the negative talk! Just saying..... See y'all at the field..... Only if your kids on all stars with my amazing nephew whom is also the kindest heart I know!

Who really cares about these so called allstar teams? Does it really matter what some dad thinks of your child? The answer should be no. Just go out and work hard, and in the end it will pay off. These all-star teams really dont mean anything in the big picture.

Lets remember why we are here. It is for the children. I here a lot of complaining about who did what, who picked who, why a kid was picked, allstars isn't important, and a bunch of other things as well. Life is not fair all the time and will never be. Are there kids that get picked because of daddy, absolutely. Are there kids that ride the bench who are better than other kids starting, absolutely. The thing to remember is that the kids are not the ones making these decisions. No matter who the kids are and whether or not your kid is chosen, we should support the children. The only thing that happens when we as parents starting acting like kids, calling others names, ridiculing them, and airing their dirty laundry, is showing what type of people you truly are. Practice what we preach. We teach out children to be respectful and if they don't have anything nice to say then not to say anything at all, and then you will go on a site and do those exact things.

Unless all parents get involved and disband the little click of "we know everything" dads who are driving the Southern little league bus right off the cliff, then you get what you get. Little league used to be played in lieu of travel ball, but now it is the other way around. These "know it all" dads only participate in league for allstars but do not care about league in reality, they only want control. It is more important to them that they control their kids playing time and the path that their kids take. You are teaching kids that it is not important to be loyal to a team and that team does not come first. I am all for kids competing and playing games but their skills will not develop by just playing games.I personally watched 2 kids on my sons team, who play in 2 leagues and travel ball literally not improve. Kids and teams must have skill work and repetition that only comes from practice. truth is little league will be over before you know it and when your child gets cut from his his school team and you say we spent all this money on travel ball and he was an allstar...just remember, the skills are required at the next level!!

Facts are: there are only 2 of 6 major managers that have 12 yr old kids(I bet they both made it). One of those managers is also a board member. Check the other board members. I bet not very many more have 12 yr old kids. So what is your point?

Southern is the only league around where your actual baseball resume has zero bearing on who gets to manage a team and that is the biggest thing wrong. Kids cannot prepare for the next level if most of the managers have not played at the higher levels of baseball. Of the 6 major managers only one had even played high school ball. I can remember these guys from back then and only Thompson played any high school ball.

Bottom line is Southern = Politics and always will. If you try to change that, devote your energy, effort and time to changing that and are not part of the All-Star board you will be run off.

I try not to pay attention to childish behavior and accusations being thrown around. It really is irrelevant. One thing I will say is SLL must be doing something better than the rest or you would not see the talent you do. I have seen every other league anywhere close to here play ball throughout the years and hands down SLL has more players that are better overall than any of those other leagues. Where they might have 5 really good players SLL has 20-30. Anyone that disputes this is kidding themselves. That's probably why there is a plaque with the words 2012 state champions on it. Board/coach kids or not.

Just because they played over 20 some odd years ago doesn't make them good coaches. Nor does it make them them all knowing or "good guys". Coomes went around last year bad mouthing a kid just to try and make sure his kid had a spot on the all-star team. Thompson was throw out of a game and also suspended for fighting in another. Conley is just a joke with mental illnesses. And will do anything to keep his buddies happy so he will be in the "in" croud. As for Iracane, he's a nice guy. But dont let that fool ya, he sneaky.
Before you say "your just mad cause your kid didn't make it on the all-star team" just know I dont have kid there. But have been around the league.

There is a big difference between "played high school ball" and just being on the team. Back to tbe first comment about this, Thompson is the only one that played!!

The first comment was that only one played high school ball and yes Kevin was one hell of an athlete but to go and dog the rest of them is just wrong, they are all pretty good guys that are very competitive . You all complain about everything at southern so I would sign up for something for its volunteer work or run for an elected position . What's funny is , if they are so bad why in the hell did you guys re-elect them ?

Now wait a minute, Iracane was hitting homers with a big barrel bat at the monster 200ft fence at Southern's home run derby. What a HOMER!
