I'm from a state that has very relaxed marijuana laws. I'm not just including Owensboro in this rant but all of Kentucky. The job market here is rediculous! I've recently had to stop smoking in order to apply for this job. But first I had to take this work keys test?!?! Such a waste of time, money, and resources. However, I got the job. Now, keep in mind I'm not allowed to use cannabis. I'm just an over qualified replaceable hourly monkey at this factory. I've used cannabis more than half of my life off and on. I can pick out a fellow weed smoker from across the room. With that said I know several members of management smoke weed. Not to mention half of my coworks are obvious meth heads. There's even a few alcoholics in the bunch. One recently got a DUI on there drive home from working a 10 hour shift! All I'm trying to say is cannabis users are not the enemy.

Wish I could say I feel for you but I don't! If its illegal, it's illegal! Move if you don't like the laws.

maybe you should just find a ride back to where you came from if it's so hard on you here. Or, here's a thought. Maybe you could start obeying the laws, stop smoking weed and clean up your act.

The short answer is positive for users, anyone should be able to control themselves enough to get hired. Then rely on work ethics and relationships to guide use once employed. The long answer is KY. farmers want industrial hemp to replace the outdated cigarette farming and if crops are contaminated with medical or recreational strands this would cause extensive damage.

No matter what you call it cannabis is just pot. And nobody wants to work with a pothead or a drunk for that matter. Instead of suggesting a more relaxed policy maybe we should look for random alcohol testing too. That might make alot of places safer. As far as testing goes they should expect people to be educated enough to do the job . We're not really the back woods rednecks tv makes us out to be.

It is mainly a work mans comp things. All you have to do is be clean for a month. Can you not do that? No company is going to random drug test anyone that is an asset. They are looking for tweekers, geeked out whaackos, not stoners

I don't smoke pot, but I completely agree. Simple-Jack is right, it is illegal so you shouldn't do it, but I think it should be legalized. Why not? It's safer than cigarettes. If we legalize it and tax the hell out of it we could make some good money. Not to mention all the money we would save in the jail for housing people who have been busted time and time again for pot. Sure, if you legalize it then there will have to be a legal age which will probably be 21, and sure, there will still be people underage smoking it, but how is it any different from alcohol or cigarettes. I would rather have a co-worker smoke pot at night and come to work the next day than have a co-worker stay out partying and drinking all night and come to work hungover and tired. But that's just my opinion. And before anyone else says it, yes I know that pot is damaging to the brain, but alcohol is damaging to the liver and cigarettes cause cancer and heart disease.

We live in the socialist plutocracy of America. Where cops need a warrant to see what's in your home or vehicle, but employers don't need anything to see what's in your urine.
Because so many people think that the Bill of Rights is just some antiquated piece of paper, and probably don't even know what the 4th Amendment is.
Because these rich bigwig CEO's don't respect anyone's privacy.
Shall I go on?

If I owned or operated a business it would be my business to know if I had some drugged out loser(s) working for me. Not only does it hurt the production of the company, it could be a liability if they were to hurt themselves or someone else. Anyone that does illegal drugs is a piece of shit in my books, especially if you put them before your kids!

I love when inept morons like yourself totally distort the constitution! It's pretty simple Einstein! If you don't want to get drug tested, expect not to get the job! No ones forcing you to drug test, unless you want the job. It's all your choice and has absolutely nothing to do with the constitution. This should in no way be compared to search and seizure laws. You sound like one of those idiotic "Occupiers", but I could be mistaken. Smh

If I were running a business, I would do random surprise tests for being under the influence of anything, including alcohol. If you're going to do drugs and alcohol, don't do them while working for me. Do them at home, and don't be under the influence at work. Not only would you get fired for flunking a single surprise test, but I would arrange the employee compensation system in such a way that you would lose a lot more than just your job.

Pre-employment drug testing is stupid if it's not followed up by surprise tests in the workplace. It's too easy to cheat when you know in advance that there will be a test on a particular date.

Bite a d@#k! You and anyone who agrees with you is what's wrong with this country. If a person smokes weed in the privacy of there home its nobody's business. That fact alcohol and cigarettes are legal and pot isn't is retarded. I've wasted enough time on you. Your a waste of intelligence.

Alcohol will get you fired if you show up drunk and cigarettes don't impair your judgement and such at work! Oh but you know all the druggies will do it right when they get home from work so there will be no ill effects the next day, right? One of the things that is wrong with this country is faggots like you that think they can do whatever they want when they want! Do the tax payers a favor and go play in traffic!
