I just got out of a REALLY bad abusive relationship. I decided not to date for a year, just so I could get myself together, get my head on straight. But it's been five months since I decided that, and I met this guy who seems to be really great. We have tons of stuff in common, and he seems like a really amazing person. I like him a lot. And I think I'd like to date him. But I don't want to repeat mistakes I've made in the past. I don't want to date before I'm really ready. But who knows if he will still be single when I'm ready to date! I don't know if I should go ahead and do it, or just wait until my year is up and trust that if it's meant to be it'll happen then. Anyone been there? Any advice or opinions?

Why set a year? You've been in an abusive relationship so know the signs. First time should be the only time he hurts you! Step out and date this guy and see where it goes!

I agree my ex was the lowest of the low! I had decided when I got rid of him there wouldn't be another ever! Then I met a great guy who kept coming around asking me out! I'm so glad I took the chance, he's wonderful and I couldn't imagine my life without him. We are going on 7 months together! He treats me like I'm the only woman in the world! So take a chance there's still some decent men left.
