It looks better the way it is now. The fact ppl called this the main hotel and a heart of owensboro is disgrace. It was built in the 70's and had no updates since. I am glad it is no more.

It's dissappointing you all feel its pointless. The riverfront project is already working more people have started going downtown for various reasons. That's the point but ya its worthless. Great thought for those who have no idea what's going on with your money.

What makes me sick the most is all that work that is being done is by people that don't live in Owensboro. They are letting people in our town who would kill for that job sit there. That's what is wrong with this city. They want to improve the city but not the people in it. There was absolutely no historical value in the inn. It needed to go. It was full of mold. The city IS ran by morons. They couldn't think through one project of their life depended on it. It's a shame I am from here. Owensboro was in time magazine and the talked about how stupid our city is.

you kidding me historical value. Their was a lot of talk from country music artists they had their quotes published they loved that place. Maybe you should look up some of the historical acts that took place their. And I'm sure if that place had so much mold John bays would have never put so much money in to updating it with the intentions of doing much much more to it.

why would TIME magazine have an article about how stupid a city was? That doesn't even make sense. Secondly the majority (not all I admit) but the majority of the work on the new hotel site is being done by Owensboro construction companies. I just got off site and I see a "Sterett Rigging" crane. 3 Yager material trucks and two front end loaders from local contractors. Now the auger test piles are being done from a company out of Louisville. Why? Because no one in Owensboro has that kind of equipment to do sonic testing / drilling. Learn your facts before blowing you whistle on something you know nothing about.

The city does go outside of Owensboro for many of the jobs. Just review old newspapers. Nearly everytime they shoot a photo of work being done at the River Park Center, or one of the parks, city hall whatever, it is always a company from outside of Owensboro. The Chamber of Commerce hired an attorney out of Louisville to represent them last year in a law suit filed by an employee. So much for "Chamber Bucks"!

what amazes me is people think rebuilding on the same site will have a different result....Only difference is this time its tax money being spent...

looks like owensboro is ran by some real idiots. they should've taken a vote. im sure if they sent a ballot to every home in the city, asking what we wanted, the executive inn would still be standing, gabe's tower would be demolished, and our tax money would be aimed toward things that we really "NEED" such as road repair and hiring a better police force...as our police department is a real joke.
