I have a question for you all. And it's n all seriousness. What if you die and there is a God?? The whole idea of faith is believing in something that you cannot see. My mother always told me that there were 2 times in life that you see God, when a child is born, and when you die.

I get it, I have struggled with his existence. But what is the harm in believing in God?? I'm not sitting here trying to push my values on you, so do not get it twisted.

I believe in god just not the bible or organized religion. Man uses it for his own gains, always has and always will.
Think about it. The bible is just a fairy tale for adults You want people to live morrally and do what you say. Tell them if they don't they will spend the rest of enurnity in the worst place imaginable. But if they are a good person then they will spend it in the best place imaginable.

If something good happends "praise god" "give him all the credit". But if something bad happens he's just testing you. Come on.

We have "free will" right? That's like telling your kid ya your free to eat that cookie but if you do then your going to time out. Christians have an excuse for everything. You could take every answer out of the Christian play book and apply it to anything.
Ghosts, Sasquatch, lockness, boogie man. Anything does that make them real? No....

Everything happens for a reason. Your entire existence in earth is one big test. I praise Him for giving me the life I have. No it wasn't easy, my dad passed away when I was 9, my mom never remarried and life was hard for us. But I always knew it could be better, but it could definitely have been way worse. Those trials and tribulations made me the person I am today and I am very thankful for that.

Your metaphor with the cookie kinda sucks. No offense but that isnt exactly the best way to explain it. It's about doing right or wrong.

Question. If someone u know is murdered and the person admits to it but says he is so sorry, does that mean he gets to walk away from it, scot free?? No. Same applies here, I know that when I die that I am going to have to pay for my sins. And that's okay. Cause everything happens for a reason.

oh, the old what if you're wrong angle LOL. The people who believe to cover their asses just in case. Yep, that's a good reason to believe the unbelievable. Atheism is the fastest growing belief system in the world because people are seeing the light. Or, maybe it's just that we're in a time of human history that the Christians can no longer kill us for saying there's no God. It's obvious to anyone with a pair of eyes and a functioning brain to see that the universe is not intelligently designed. It's clear to anyone who can read that the bible is ridiculous. It's notions are absurd. It's poorly written and filled with contradiction.

If there is a God, he/she/it is atheist. Everyone on this thread is atheist whether you want to admit it or not. Start up a thread asking if Zeus is real, or Allah, or Buddha or Elohim, Ra, etc., etc.

You have been taught to believe in Jesus. That doesn't make him real. If you were born in Iraq, you'd be Muslim telling us Jesus isn't the savior or god. If you were born with any sense you'd realize it's all BS. It's a con, the ultimate of cons. It's only about control and money, but certainly not about God.

Well your knowledge of your religion is very poor. B/c that is exactly what the bible teaches. That's is the supposed reason why Jesus was sacrificed for our sins, so we could just ask forgiveness and be forgiven.

And I think my cookie Metaphor fits well. Let me explain it to you the " cookie" here is "wrong" doing and the parent is "god" and we are the children.
God supposedly put temptation here as a "test" ( the cookie). And says we have free will to do what we want, but if we do what we want we get punished so how is that free will?

Not to mention he supposedly loves us unconditionally. You don't put your wife and kids through hell and then say " oh sorry that was just a test, but you passed with an A". They would leave you.( or they should ) b/c that's not the way your treat people you love.

Well said. Most people (around here) grow up in religion and god and never question it. Why would you? It's beaten into our brains from birth and most never stop to really think about it.

Ive said I before and I'll say it again religion is morals for people without common sense

Hold on a minute. Let me get this whole thing straight. God created the universe, the planets and all life. He created the arch angles and one of them went bad so he cast him out of heaven so he could tempt mankind. Then he sent himself on a suicide mission to save mankind from what he created? Interesting, but total retardation. You really need to raise your standards on God. The one you're following is an idiot LOL.

You clearly must not have any knowledge either Jesus died for our sins that we committed.

When Adam and eve ate of the fruit, the gates of heaven were closed. From the beginning of time until Jesus walked this earth the gates were closed. Jesus died for our sins as humanity so that the gates would be open again.

No where in my previous response said that you could do any of those things and expect an A. You are rewarded for the struggles that you go through. And you do something positive with it. My dad has taken care of us (monetarily) in the past year more than he could have ever done so while he was alive.

When I say everything happens for a reason I meant that whatever happens to u in your lifetime, you need to grow from it. Whether it be good or bad. Its just as much of a sin to sit around and do nothing than to be the one actually who commits the sin (in ure example, the husband)

I may not like the fact that my father passed away at the age of 41 from cancer. He had never smoked a day in his life, but it was supposed to happen.

I could go on for days about every day examples in my own life that I can honestly step back and say, "yeah, that's how it's supposed to be"

And he does love us unconditionally. Are you a parent? If not then let me explain. Let's say you told your child to NOT get a cookie, but they snuck behind your back and did it anyways. You are disappointed that they have disobeyed you, but you must punish them. At any point in time, you do not love them any less for stealing from the cookie jar. The child learns a lesson in disobeying and you love them just as much as before.

Understand?

Good idea, in theory, but I understand not wanting to be with someone based upon conflicting religious beliefs. You must have common ground to be a couple. Some people think religion, or lack of religion, is important in picking a mate.

Lol wrong again in the old testiment before Jesus died in the cross. For our sins to be forgiven a sacrifice had to be made usually a lamb or goat in some cases even a son. That is why "god" sent his only "begotten" son to die on the cross for all our sins. So no sacrifice had to be made. Maybe you should read your beloved fictional book again.

Your mixing and twisting what I said to make your point (typical Christian)
I never said anything about obedience i was talking about free will. And love seperately.

What if i told you one day I just up and left my 3 kids and wife without even a word to them. I'm the sole provider for the family and my wife has no job experiance and only a HS education.

Now lets say I show back up a yr later. My wife is working 2 minimum wage jobs my oldest dropped out of HS and works to help support the family the middle child watches the youngest. Now they have all became stronger more responsible and some would say have grown as people. Now could i just walk back in like nothing happend? Tell them "I'm proud of you i just wanted to see if you could make it without me and you you did!"
Would you call that love? Or a sick and twisted?

The bible preaches against being egotistical or self centered. Against being prideful and self richous.

For the Scriptures say, "'As surely as I live,' says the LORD, every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will confess and give praise to God.'"

What would you call someone who creates an entire world full of people just to praise and worship him?

This will be my last post you can't argue with people who don't use reason or logic.
