There also could have possibly been something wrong with the child before she was carried to the day care center. In one of the articles that I have read. It stated that the employee as this particular day care were CPR certified and they tried multiple times to perform CPR on this child without any success. In addition so did the EMRs.

The procedure for emergencies by this center is listed on:
http://www.leaslearning.com/Emergency.htm

Wonder why they didn't follow their own policy?

I am curious. Has anyone mentioned what the cause of death for this child likely is?

I have heard nothing but bad stuff as well about this daycare, I hope that the state shuts her down and takes her license so that this can't happen again. It's a very sad situation. For what you pay for daycare you expect your child to be well cared for. Not neglected or abused in any way.

You know... I think that there was something that was wrong with the child when they brought it to daycare dont you think that the workers would have noticed it before they did. Or if they was watching it like they should have been the would have know it before dinner time.

Although I doubt it was any thing that the day care did I will never feel right taking my kids back there. My baby was the same age as the one that died. I couldnt sleep after I heard about it.

There are a bunch of possibilities on what happened with the child. If the autopsy came up inconclusive, it is evidently NOT the fault of the daycare. Any form of abuse that could kill a child, let alone a BABY will be physically noticeable, and an autopsy would result in a proper death-diagnosis. Please don't be stupid and blame things on the daycare when it is entirely out of their hands.

Ok, it has a lot to do with the daycare whether people on here like it or not. Yes, some of it was out of their hands if the baby died of something unknown. But from what I understand the baby had a bottle in her mouth propped up. Which, in turn, caused to vomit from choking. A daycare should never have a bottle propped up anyway. That's just common sense. I'm hearing this from an excellent source so I don't know what you all have heard but that's what's been said to me. This is an awful situation and nobody should ever have to go through it. That daycare needs to be shut down immediately.

I am a mother of a 3 yr old girl that had attended Leas Learning Center for a year and I haven't had any problems with them at all! i believe as an EMT that the child had medical problems prior to that day. Maybe you should find out the whole story and the truth before you pass judgement on people. It could have easily happened while the chid was at home, then would you people be passing judgement on the parents??? Lea has made a very nice business that I gladly drop my child off to everyday!

I agree with the above comment. My child was in the care of Lea herself for years and also Leas Learning Center for years. I never had ONE issue in all that time. She loves those kids and loved mine to pieces. You couldn't ask for a better person than Lea. My opinion should matter since my child was in the care of her and her employees. All were extremely organized, loving, caring and always all about the kids. Shame on the people making comments that have no idea what kind of business she runs. The situation is so sad but don't be blaming so quickly unless you were there!

And to the comment from "welll", your excellent source is nothing more than an untrue rumor. If the baby had choked, the autopsy would have shown this. It did not. The coroner stated in the paper and on the news that nothing showed up on the autopsy. Just stating the facts.

There's a reason my daughter doesn't go there anymore...it took me a while to catch on but there are unusual forms of punishment. My daughter was terrified of moving to the 3 yr old room after a child was locked in a closet as punishment there. I have personally walked in and could not find an adult while children roamed freely and one even went out the front door. I waited at the counter with my daughter and that child and filed a complaint as any one of those kids could have been kidnapped. I have also PERSONALLY witnessed the large woman in charge of the older groups swearing AT the kids!! There was also an incident where i picked my daughter up and he was complaining of a sore toe. No one at the daycare had any idea as to why supposedly. I took her to her regular doctor who ordered xrays! Her cartlidge was torn! After i went back to Lea she informed me that another kid may have hurt her on the playground. One of the "teachers" informed me in the parking lot as we left that Lea's own daughter was allowed to ride a tricycle INSIDE the building where the kids are made to remove their shoes (which i am fine with-te shoes i mean) and ran over my daughters toe. Furthermore, Lea had held a meeting with the teachers instructing them not to tell me this. That particular woman quit not long after because working there made her uncomfortable. Once she outgrew Lena's class, my daughter went to a private sitter. Paying 3X as much was MORE than worth it. And thats not second-hand chatter that's real-life experience I've had. If more parents filed formal complaints (as they probably should) this center would not be open. Dead infant or no, this child"care" center is open oy because they prey on the poor who accept public assistance or who take advantage of the low cost-a mistake I am glad I caught before my daughter was more severely injured or killed. So I would suggest kindly to both of the women (or men?) posting above that they pay closer attention...you will see why so many complain and why the turnover with kids is so high.

So... after all those things allegedly occurred, you left your child there until she outgrew Lena's class?? If it was that bad, you would have pulled her out immediately. Just sayin...

Lena Morris was wonderful and yes, she stayed one week while I found someone more suitable. I didn't mean to give the impression she stayed longer :-)

Ok "proud mother also", that excellent source was the best friend of the mother, I'm being dead serious, I know that for a fact. The mother explained to her what happened and that's what was said. Many other people that know them know what happened. I'm not trying to be rude but there are things people aren't saying for some reason. Either way, it sounds like people have had great experiences and very bad ones on here. But I'm still going to hold strong ro my opinion and I'm sure you will too, I just wanted to clarify that.

Well I know for a fact that when Nick got there to pick Baylee up They went to get her and it was taking longer so he walked in the room the worker handed her to him and said (SHE'S KINDA OF OUT OF IT!!!!!!!!)He said she's blue and not breathing thats when 911 was called...NO WORKER knew how to do CPR... Noone at lea's had a clue of what was going on....Or what to do!! So No they don't need to be in charge of children!!!! And this is my family so yeah I do know!!!
Just sayin

The baby had just been seen by her doctor earlier in the week and only had a very minor respiratory infection. If she was sick, by law the center should have sent her home to keep the other children from being exposed to the sickness...so it is very unlikely that the child had "prior problem" that caused the death...The fact that no even noticed the child was distressed until after the parents arrived is enough for a lawsuit at the very least, what if the worker had checked on her and noticed she was turning blue earlier??? The child was alreay turning blue, and vomited after she was put on the changing table by the parent that found her. The mom started CPR not the workers.
