The facts of the case were heard by the jury, and the truth was it was a birdshot pistol left in a jacket, period. I had offered to plead no contest to accidentally leaving it in a jacket- but the defendants in my million dollar lawsuit saw it as an opportunity to put me behind bars- hoping the lawsuit against them would go away. They lied, and the jury saw it. They found me guilty of a misdemeanor ' assault' which normally on a first time conviction with no criminal record would have been 6 days. As it was, I was held without bail , a violation of my civil rights for 10 months. It was nothing short of a miracle that I was set free. The truth prevailed to the extent there was no intent and I was punished twice as long as the maximum sentence allowed. Never believe everything you read in a paper, especially a tabloid rag like the Bozeman Chronicle. I had no choice but to go for it, I was denied any access to evidence for my defense, not allowed to access my emails or internet or computer, even though they had gone over it with a fine tooth comb and found no evidence against me.
I had the truth and God on my side- and I hope no one ever finds themselves in a similar situation, wrongfully accused and detained without bail.
