Ritzy's has b1g1 double cheeseburgers coupons on the web and in the newspapers. But check your receipt Ritzy's is charging you sales tax on the FREE double cheeseburger which is WRONG. Sales tax can only be charged on manufacturer's coupons NOT resturant or other promotional coupons per KY STATE LAW. Then if you are getting the 5 cheeseburgers for $7.95. They try to charge you $9.45 plus sales tax. It shows on the receipt as 5 for 7.95 -5.00 when it should be -6.50. Get your shit straight RITZYS

did you talk to them about your issue? The owner of ritzys is a very nice guy and does a lot of positive things for our community, I doubt very seriously he would cheat you, or anyone, on purpose.

The owner should stop playing modern day Robin Hood. Modern day Robin Hood unethically screws the consumer then "gives" to the community to make himself look good.

You should have went back in there and told them
oh yes please

If you would just go in there and speak to Mike then I'm positive he would fix it, or refund how many ever cents you were charged for tax. It's not a big deal and no one there would intentionally screw over a customer, ESP Mike. And if you can't talk to Mike @ 54 then talk to Amber @ Frederica. I worked there for a pretty good amount of time and know how that place operates. Instead of complaining on topix just speak to them.

What are we talking here .14$ ... Yeah let's bash a good man and business over the tax of a BOGO cheeseburger. You my friend have way to much time in your hands. And if the tax in a free burger is going to send you to the poor house then.... You can't afford to eat out in the first place.

I always love how people moan and complain about even a few dollars. I mean really u r not paying for the item u get for free. Shut the hell up and pay the 50 cents for the tax. I have people at my work complaining all the time because the service is plus tax. If .06 on the dollar breaks ur ass then stay home.

I know the owner....he would never cheat anyone. If you go to or call the Hwy 54 store and ask to speak to Mike he will take care of your issue. You can't expect people to fix mistakes if they do not know.

Just take the receipt back in there and point out the mistake.

Same thing happens on 50% off combo of your choice. The combo is $5.65 so half of should be 2.825 + 6% = 2.99. The receipt will read .34 sales tax which brings the total to 3.16. It may be only .17 but the local FOODLAND grocery stores always cheated you .01-1.00 every single visit. It's a shame those thieves went out of business when walmart came in and crushed them. LOCAL BUSINESSES = CROOKS

Would you turn down a .14 raise at work? Same principle. And the price of the cheeseburger is $2.89. The tax would be .17!

completely different issues... A raise would be .14$ an hour and not a one time thing. In addition MAYBE the small print says that you still have to pay the tax. I mean Ritzys does.....! And I was guessing .14$ thanks for the math correction.
The main thing is thst I would have gone to the manager and NOT topix to handle this issue. Oh but wait you didn't do thst because you didn't want to be known as the person thst complains about having to pay .17$ tax on a free burger. SMDH
fine print

There is no fine print. But as the original poster posted sales tax CAN NOT be applied to resturant coupons ONLY manufacturer coupons. As far as the money difference 1.50 extra to a $7.95 order is an 18.9% price difference. It's also not a one time thing. Everytime a coupon is redeemed the extra $ is taken from the customer. I would say it was a "mistake" if only one coupon rang up wrong by the registers. But no matter what coupon you use the register rings up wrong price bells start to sound. Go to Mcdonalds or Arby's and use a coupon. You are only charged tax on AFTER coupon price. And never tax on a b1g1 such as b1g1 big mac on the free big mac.

The owner is one of the most decent and honest business owners in Owensboro. It is amazing that instead of going to the business owner and talking to him about the situation, people like to damage someone's reputation over a few cents. Sad how pathetic some of you are and I imagine he doesn't even know about the situation. The worst thing about topix is that it makes a bunch of cowards feel powerful.
