Thank you so much! She's the first dog I've had as an adult-and mom was the one to worry about this sort of thing WAY back then. I gave her some sliced ham I had in the fridge, in little bites at a time, and she was on her hind legs for it! Her regular food is "Moist and meaty" --looks kind of like hamburger. Maybe I just have a little beggar on my hands-bet hubby's been slipping stuff to her

Hopefully she's just like the rest of us in this heat---if she doesn't HAVE to expend the energy-or it's not for something worth it to her, she's just not going to. She drank about half of her bowl of water afterwards, too(was hoping she would with ham being a saltier meat). My husband thought I was nuts when I brought it up to her in case she was too tired to move towards it, lol.

Thanks for the advice about the baths. I'd hold her in a towel afterwards, and try to dry her off, but after my husband caught me blow-drying on low her he made me stop- apparently that can make her sick, too.
Lol! Glad she perked up!

My mother and I both noticed it yesterday while driving. It smells like roastin' ears on the grill. Kinda makes ya wanna walk into one with a stick of butter.

NO TURKEY OR HAM. Many people like to feed their dog scraps from the table, which really is a bad thing in the first place, but if you just can't help yourself, at least steer clear of turkey and ham. This is another problem that we see almost every day at the office--people think they are being kind to their dog by giving him the leftovers from dinner (this is especially common around Christmas and Thanksgiving). But dogs' digestive systems can't handle turkey or ham. And, actually, anything that is oily or greasy will cause diarrhea and other problems. So, if you must give something from the table, give a small sliver of chicken or a few pieces of plain pasta...never turkey or ham unless you want a huge diarrhea mess on your hands. Ideally, dogs shouldn't have any table scraps, and shouldn't have canned food, either.(Canned food may be tasty, but it adds extra grease, salt, and calories that are just plain unnecessary.) Dry dog food is all they need. It will keep their stools firm and their waistlines trim. I always feel a little sad when I see one of our patients, a 65-pound cocker spaniel, waddle through the door with arthritis and heart problems as a result of the obesity it has incurred from being fed canned food and table scraps by its soft-hearted owners.

Thank you! Any help is appreciated-even (and especially) help that lets me know when I'm screwing up!

I only had ham here-it was the thin deli slices. Land O' Frost brand. I gave her two, and the serving size is 4. I was just trying to get her interested in SOME kind of food (and she sure was) She's less than 10 lbs. Tiny little thing. Her "toy dog" collar is a little too big (I like to make sure I can still get two fingers under it so she can escape if need be rather than choke)

Her very first owner hurt her leg somehow, and the poor little thing still cowers sometimes when one of my teenagers are too loud. Breaks my heart. I just want her to be happy and feel loved.

She has bad teeth, too, and dry dog food is hard for her to eat-can it be moistened with water or broth to make it more appealing?

Also, I noticed the kitten eating the moist and meaty that was still in her bowl. Would the cat smell left over from them eating HER food affect her wanting to eat?

This dog, best we can tell, is at least 10 or so. She has grey on the top of her head and throughout her fur. But she was awfully interested in the boy pomeranian that haunted our doorstep for a while-I assumed she'd been fixed as old as she is-and the guy we got her from said she'd had a couple of litters. She's too old for puppy nonsense, right? please?

You have custody of your kids? That's surprising.

You shouldn't have custody of your kids. You're worse than she is on your best day!

I was 19 I have a great place set up for her here we are real close and here a lot I have custody thank you. She is fifteen and if she doesn't want tl hurt her mamma I understand and I see her all the time. The other ones I have. So cry me a river and stay off my crap and quit stalking my little girls Facebook creeper. That's weird!

They think you make no sense. You seriously think others might rain?? Are you asking if it's cloudy and cooling off? You formed it as a sentence, also quit lying about "your" pool! Unless you mean the 8$ kiddie one your mom bought at the dollar store it is the first after all! You can afford it with all those dependents y'all draw assistance on!

No weirder than you asking people to look up Ginger or Caitlin! You even wrote on here that my kid has no boobs! And I've never seen your kids Facebook someone that your "friends" with messaged and told me that! Also your a liar! Your child is fifteen and so is mine! I had my daughter when I was nineteen, your at least 6 years younger than me! So that made you 13 when your daughter was born. You don't have custody because 13 year olds who have babies and are wards of the state usually don't get to keep the babies they pop out! What kind of girl is sexually promiscuous at that age?? And you keep referencing a Josh! I've never slept with anyone named Josh so your a liar again!!
