Rinse with warm salt water. There is another, if you aren't addicted to drinking or working or driving.

Cloves are supposed to help. You just put one in your mouth next to the painful tooth. I've never tried this personally, but I've heard several people say it works. Worth a shot, cloves are cheap!

There used to be a dental clinic for low incomes. All of these suggestions are just for temporary relief. If it is absessed you'll have to get it taken care of asap. And you'll need an antibiotic for that. Good luck :)

If he's ok with and old enough for alcohol, bourbon works great. Doesn't taste the best for most people. But just use a little on the tooth hurting, let it sit for a little bit then spit it out. It temporarily numbs the exposed nerves better than anything else. This advise is not for minors or anyone with addiction problems.

There is a temporary filling that is fairly cheap. It is only supposed to be used for upto 48 hours and has numbing stuff in it. My boyfriend used it and it helped him. U can get it at Walgreens next to the orajel.
Anyone add

I have recently had agonising toothache and I would reccomended taking ibuprofen every 3 hours and using Clove OIl as the oil takes the edge off the pain, keep doing this until the pain has gone, and brush and mouthwash twice a day, worked for me, good luck

Let aspirin sit on it. Also it may sound crazy but it works, paint it with superglue it will seal the tooth and keep
air off the nerve. Quick fix til you can get to a dentist!

I also suggest putting mouthwash in ur mouth and let it sit for a min. Also crush a tylenol and put it directly on the tooth helps. I kno ur gonna think this is crazy but I would eat a piece of bread on the side that is hurting and it helped my toothache and im being honest not joking. The dentist said maybe it packed down in the tooth. So if u try this let me kno on here if it helped any. Hope u get some relief
