"I'm proud of the job you do" says Scott Walton
but...
The former Sheriff may not have punished a man who through his own negligence...according to the Highway Patrol investigation... was partly to blame in the deaths of two women and put a young girl in the hospital... but he never rewarded him for it either. Sad day for Rogers County and Scotts right..it does say a lot about those people within those walls, including him.

look, mr walton is nothing more than a politician who campaigns without ceasing. he is a person that is only interested in staying in office and being a big shot. we were told that in the last election and as a whole didnt listen. im sorry but all of those that are unhappy with him and his lack of leadership are just out of luck. we had a great man in butler but its over. he will be there until he retires and that is that.

If these four folks were promoted, does that mean there are four new deputies to take their place patroling the roads of the county? How many sworn personel are there at the RCSO? Does anyone know? I am all for rewarding good work with promotion. But unless these new supervisors are going to continue to work the field and answer emergency calls for service, then there had better some new employees.

New Deputies,

The four that were promoted (Sgt's)still work the streets and take calls, also the Lt's work the streets. There has not been any loss of man power to take calls.

Why the promotion if new people were not hired? Who are these new supervisors supervising? Was there not already field supervisors present? If Mr. Walton wanted to give these guys raises for doing a good job, fine. But to make the statement that more supervision was needed in the field is ludicrious. He has less than 20 people in the field and most all of them are now "supervisors."

I am on a community board in Claremore, and was present for this event. These Deputies did not get raises just promotions. Its part of the restructuring process. And yes these Deputies will continue to patrol as they currently do . And for the record "Punisher" you should research your information before you post. The Deputy that was involved in the crash is a great Deputy , and if you read the report (that is public information) you will see that the Deputy was NOT at fault or found to be doing anything incorrectly at the time of the crash. He was traveling northbound on hwy 66,a car pulled out in front of him while he was responding to a emergency call(with lights and sirens) look up the report.people traveling the highway have the right of way.

Really..do people actually believe anything that is posted her? half of it is supporters of the sheriffs that did not win , and the other half is people that dont know what they are talking about probably people that have been arrested and are made about it. I am a hard working family man that has never been in trouble and I have never had any negative contact with any of the Deputies. They are always straight and by the book. They do a job that non of us could or want to do. Its easy so point fingers from sitting behind a computer isnt it. If your that worried about it do something about it.

The state law does not relieve a law enforcement officer from operating his/her patrol unit in a reasonable manner, even when running with lights and siren. That crash was a terrible tragedy but there was fault on both sides of the issue. The lady pulled in front of the cruiser, that is obvious. The deputy was driving way too fast for the conditions and the OHP report documents that. I've seen the report and that is very clear. It won't bring back anyone that was killed, but taking responsibility is the issue here. The RCSO stuck it's head in the sand when this occurred, and it is still doing it. The deputy will have to live with that for the rest of his life. And so will the victims' families.

By and large, the deputies of the RCSO are good law enforcement officers. The sheriff, his upper management team, and a few of the deputies are the political machine that got him elected. He has no undersheriff apparantly....Never hear about the undersheriff doing anything, except draw a paycheck. In our part of the county, we have had very good response by the deputy working this area. It would be nice if he had more support from his management while doing his job though.

There is much good that could be done if we had elected someone who really cared about "the job" instead of homegrown politics. There has been no REAL change of any kind in the business as usual. Crime spreads as an area gets more populated. Criminals are always adapting to new ways.

Punisher quoted in #11

The only remedy Scotty can see is at the bottom of his beer mug and that's to order another. So don't expect for our overpaid (for their job performance)deputies to get off the band wagon and actually do "honest" police work.

Scotty is trying to bring Tulsa Police thinking over here to Rogers County where there is more Chiefs than there is Indians. I'm sorry but maybe we need to install a little military into this little county department. The military had a general over 800 men. Why in a little county department do you need so many bars when you have very few men to bark orders too. Rank isn't everything yea it looks good on a resume, but we are not in the line of business to beef up our resumes we are here to protect the citizens and not do a photo shop in the paper that caters to you. Also great picture in the paper while your over looking the County Commissioners meeting.... WAY TO GO SCOTTY!!!!

Walton isn't bring the TPD way to Rogers County. Because TPD puts bad guys in jail and is as proactive as it can possibly be with the political turmoil that is going on there. Walton promoted these deputies to Sgt as a "feel good" deal. "They" say that there was no pay raise, that they continue to work the field and there were no new deputies hired for these new sgts to supervise. All he did was put stripes on a deputy's arm. Walton hasn't done anything that he said he would do in his campaign so why should we expect anything new in this office.

Good point Nope... I think I made misworded my point... Looking at TPD they are top heavy with just 800 officers they have 1 chief, 3 deputy chiefs, majors, captians, sergeants, and corporals. They really don't need all of that and Scotty has him as the sheriff and undersheriff an investigator captains, leutinant, sergeants all for a deputy for that is small. So question is how many indians does scotty have one or two and the rest is chiefs. But I agree with you on TPD being active especially with the moral should be low with the back and forth about keeping or getting rid of their jobs

The manpower study, paid by the taxdollars of the City of Tulsa, just 2 years ago, did not reveal that the TPD has any different command structure for a dept of their size. That study costs almost $175,000 dollars when Taylor was the mayor. So it is questionable whether the TPD is top heavy, or the current mayor just wants to tear down the department. The RCSO is absolutely a joke when it comes to it's command structure. No doubt about that. Walton never did anything at the TPD and got run out of every special unit he was ever in. Including the Crimestoppers program that he brags so much about. When his buddy, Dave Been, retired, and Ron Palmer came in, Walton was told to find a new home because he was never available when needed. But that is old news. The RCSO needs a complete overhaul but that won't happen right now.

The sheriff's election was over a year ago. What is going on right now has nothing to do with the past election. It has to do with the manner that the RCSO is being lead by the current administration. When the sheriff is on Tulsa TV, promoting a gold and pawn business, in uniform, we have problems. That has nothing to do with the last election. Sweep it under your rug if you wish but the facts remain. You lead by example and the current sheriff is doing an extremely poor job of leading.
