I lived in Turley Children's Home back in the 60's. Turley Home later moved to Claremore, Oklahoma and is called Hope Harbor.
I am trying to locate former residents of Turley Children's Home because I am working on a project that I feel will be of great interest to the children who lived at Turley Children's Home.
I anyone knows where some of these children are I would appreciate you forwarding my message onto them or pointing them to my web site.

I lived there from 62-66. You are talking about Turley Children's Home, in Oklahoma. I went to Cherokee, and McLain, and graduated from McLain in 1966.

That is nonsense. I grew up there and as far as I know there was not one person that was abused by anyone. 62-66.

There were a few kids there that probably needed some beating but beating was not a process used to change behavior. In fact I only got my butt busted once, and deserved it.

You know, I had no problem in the cottage with all the boys. Our house parents were really great, and I have nothing but fond memories of them.

I remember the story about Sonja poisoning the houseparent, but of course the story you tell is not the story we were told. If that happened, which I have no way of really knowing, I am truly sorry, but I don't think that the whole of Turley Home was rampant with sexual abuse. It is unfortunate that those particular parents were abusive, and the minister, and I am sorry for your horrific experience, and Sonja's, but I had no such experience. In fact, we called our house parents mom and pop, because they really were to us.

Vernon seems like a nice guy, but you, on the other hand, are a real jerk.

I live in Turley Children's Home in 1986. If this is the same place, it was located off North Cicinatti in north Tulsa. Please contact me if you lived there at that time.

I lived there during the 70's. Not at all like some propose it was. Cant speak for females, but as a young boy, was far better than other options. No abuse that I was aware of. It wasnt perfect, but had it not been for tch , quite sure I would be in prison or dead.....

Lived at Turley Children's Home from 1963 to 1973. Made a lot of friends there during those years that I miss very much but I also had enough bad times to cause me to run away from there on multiple occasions. I was accepted into foster care the last time where I graduated from Nathan Hale in 1975.

I left Oklahoma in 1975 to find my mom who was living in California. I've returned a few times and tried to find people that I grew up with but those attempts were unsuccessful.

Wish that I would've found this site when Sarah Hudson Pierce was trying to find former residents. I didn't know until my sister mentioned it the other day. She knew Sarah and was in the same cottage as her.

I had two sister and three brothers that lived there. Linda Bush, Harold Bush, Ricky Bush, Deborah Summers and Randy Summers. Randy was adopted by his house parent, Robert Smith.

I used to spend time at the TCH. I spent the night with friends there. My best memory is trick or treating there for I think it was Mrs. Jones' popcorn balls. i always had good times there. i didnt live there though so I don't know what it was like to live there.

i didnt live at the TCH but did spend time there with friends. I used to trick or treat there so I could get (I think it was Mrs. Jones) great popcorn balls. I also had a huge crush on a boy who lived there. Henry Fields was my first love. I missbehaved there like I did everywhere and I got into trouble but I was always welcome there.

I lived there in late 79 early 80s. It was not horrible. Especially as much trouble as I would get into filled a lot of pot holes and scraped a lot of that stuff of the walls even cleaned with a tooth brush, I was not treated badly considering I was a handful to deal with. I have good memories of that place. I know they moved it don't know what it is like now. It was better than how I had to live before. I had sum good house parents n some crappy ones. Life was never dull.

When in the 70s did you leave. It is so hard to find people who use to live there. In a way that place saved me. I was always fighting and in trouble even when i lived there they never gave up on me like my dad did. I had some fun times there

I lived at Turley from 1977-82. There was never any abuse that I knew of. I probably wouldnt be alive if I had not been brought to Turley. Living there was the best thing that ever happened to me. My houseparent was Granny Vaughn. She was tough but fair and we all loved her.
