Could Be More Trouble On Highway 20

More work may be in store along Highway 20 down Keetonville Hill. That's the same road that was repaired after part of it slid down the hill after heavy rain. Full Story

If they are going to all this trouble for Highway 20, Why can't ODOT get a grant or city funding to go ahead and make a permanent 4 lane through that area that will not collapse. It's kinda silly spending all the money to widen 20 from Owasso to that point and then merge to 2 lanes.

My question is why are they continuing to spend all this money on a highway that they are going to do away with in a few years? I understand that it is a main access to many but do you think the county commissioner would be spending this kind of money if the road was already his?

why not build one big huge bridge from west of the hill to just over east of the river going towards clarmore? alot of money but its permanent and wont have to be repaired, anytime soon. why put money into something that is will keep giving problems to the ones that live around there and peole like me and others that need to use that hill to get through to claremore?

Why haven't the signal lights at Hwy 20 and 169 been turned on? They been in place for over 2 months?

LOL I'm sure these reporters are making their English teachers proud! Spell check is great, but nothing beats proof reading. It's fine for us to get sloppy on these posts if we want, but the reporters are getting paid to do a professional job.

From the ODOT documents it seems that the road will still be in place as a side road for the residents, but there will be a new 4 lane highway 20 to the south which will merge with the new highway 20 in Owasso. Long story: It looks like the new highway 20 will bypass Claremore to the south running along the turnpike up to King Road south of Claremore and then back up to about one mile west of Claremore city limits along the old 20 (which will be four-laned and cross the Verdigris and then head south of the old 20 as it goes up Keetonville Hill which will be a totally new four-lane to the south of the old hwy that will remain as a road for residential access.)

I could seriously think of some better routes for the road, but it probably has something to do with politics and who would be affected by the route.

Why don't they come off hwy169 east towards the Port with their 4 lane road and go around to the toll road? No houses, hill or major curves to deal with
