pops needs to get over it and deal with his spoilt lil son. besides his son getting suspended pops should teach his son to be a man and walk away from petty lil scruffs.

but it is a reason to gripe about something and get attention, looks like father like son.. lol

Irrelevant! Point is... what is the punishment for those that left the school function to "watch" the fight?

Its funny that the school can make up rules as the school year goes on...it sounds like the 8th grade center is falling into the mid-high make up the rules as you go...whats next? will the schools start enforcing where the students spend there time out of school?...if there were 200 students that witnessed the fight - shouldn't the school take actions for those that did not stop the fight? If there was someone from the school that was busy counting the students shouldn't they have been spending there time to stop the fight?...off school property...not during school hours...maybe the school should have discussed the facts with the parents before taking action...but again it is the owasso school board that is acting not the school which is more than a quarter mile from the nearest Kum & Go...

Sounds like the school did you a favor.

They could have called the police and gotten one or both charged with A&B, or inciting an unlawful gathering; and kicked them out for the rest of the year.

It was a fight people. Do you not remember fights in high school? It's a coming of age fight for the fittest contest of teenagers. There were fights almost everyday at my high school and I graduated from Broken Arrow.

So the kid got in a fight... it happens. What is wrong with you people calling him spoiled and blasting his father for not wanting a third party to help discipline his son.

No wonder the kids today are a bunch of candy asses.

Funny if this kid had been the one who got beat up then the father would be screaming at the school for protecting his son. So how dare the school suspend him??? Whatever he got what he deserved so just get on with your lives.

As a teacher in another district I can tell you that most every district throughout the US has the same policy "If a a verbal or physical altercation starts on school grounds, then the student will be disciplined when they take it off school grounds to finish it." Many kids these days don't even go to the game to watch, they go to hangout and that is when trouble brews. Whatever happened to school spirit? Dad, glad you are disciplining your student but pick your battles and this does not seem one that you will win.

The school over-extended its area of control. Punishing someone for what could happen in the future is ridiculous. Nothing was mentioned of the other kid or the 200 who watched. Following the school's logic, the 200 should have been "punished" for a possible riot situation.

This ass. superitendant exudes the "good 'ol boy" mentality in this school system. Focus your discipline on teachers who, instead of assisting students when they ask for help, ridicule and embarrass them in the classroom.

If it were my son and the school board made this type of ruling...I would be as mad as the PARENTS...I'm sure its not only the father that is upset with schools taboo ruling...
If the school is going to punish my child without my permission...on my time not theres...they will have to deal with me on there time and dime.

Well look at all you perfect parents. I am sorry but if someone lays their hands on my child she has every right to protect herself. If Morgan truly did get jumped, then he had every right to defend himself.

I want to clear up some misconseptions, first the Asst.principle made the ruling then, the entire altercation was a spur of the moment thing...it was never planned on school property, the other boy was never at the game at any time ! My son left the game with me ! The fight happened approx 45 minutes after I picked my son up. The fight was not at Kum-n-go, it was behind the Market...again not school property, also Owasso PD told me 50-60 people of varing ages

The kid decided at a school function to get in a fight. He knew it was wrong so he went across the street, thinking he was in the clear. Dad is just another crybaby, pussy who calls the news to whine about "injustice". Holy shit. I don't know who is more pitiful, this clown and his dumbass kid or Channel 6 for thinking this is a story.

I am so sick of parents sticking up for their kids stupid mistakes, making excuses because Little Johnny is out of control! TOUGH LOVE! Take your 3 days and be thankful the police didn't take them away for assault.

Wow do most of you have kids? The people telling the dad that he is a bad parrent are nuts. Things have changed a lot since I was a kid but I went to Owasso and fights happening outside of school was not uncommon nor did it mean that there were bad kids or parents involved. We were young and stupid sure general something stupid would occure causing a fight. Most the time everyone was fine the next day. My dad taught me I was dead if I started a fight but I had every right to defend myself if someone attacked me. I teach my daughter the same thing.

The kid took part in a public disturbance that was directly generated from him being at a school function. He needs to be punished. Channel 6, which I rarely have issues with, should find something else to report besides poor junior getting thrown out of school for behaving like a thug. Furthermore the kid should be punished for having a goofy haircut. This is not the OC.

The Owasso PD did arrive and stop the entire incident. I requested them to detain my son at least overnight. To teach him a lesson. I was told that no one did anything to be arressted for and was told I had to take him home with me. As for the students that left the game, they have been banned from the next two football games. My issue is none of this altercation transpired on School Property or during School Hours or at a School Function! So why does Owasso Public Schools have Jurisdiction...You can not punish two boys for something they might do in the future. Nor can they be held responsible for a Group of kids texting eachother that there is going to be a fight.

I believe the schools want to get the parents involved with the students school career instead of alienating the parent. So why wouldn't the school call the parent to inform of situation instead of creating a wall of communication with a suspension.

If the school is going to punish the students for what may happen in the future at the school...can the parents ask for action to be taken for by the school board for the principles / counselors / teachers on how they interact with the students / parents / each other?...I'm sure that something has happened before that the school board has not interfered with...and I'm sure that something will happen that the school board / school will find a way to stay out of when it is in there best interest to solve.
On this matter the school board should have made a statement in the school...not to the public and not made the parents of the boys that were in the fight as scape goats for there stupidity...
