"two female investigators posing as teenage girls".

This sounds like entrapment. Were they posing as 18 year olds or 14 year olds? This makes a big difference to the story, don't you think Morning Call?

Meanwhile you have a Democrat congressman Gary Studds raping a boy and he gets a standing ovation by members of his party. For all you people who don't believe me then google a search on "Gary Studds sex scandle". You'll be amazed at what democRATS get away with.

"Entrapment - the act of a law enforcement agent inducing a person to commit an offense which the person would otherwise have been unlikely to commit."

There is a scary trend happening in this country made popular by certian tv reality shows that has me quite concerned. With our prisons packed to the hilt do we really need to be entrapping people and getting them to give into temptation?

If the police were drawn to this guy for some reason, like that he had actully done these things to real 17 year olds, then I applaud their efforts. However, this article does not state anything to that affect. What I get from this is that law enforcement had nothing better to do than to find some random guy and entice him to do something he wouldn't othewise have done. I'd love to see a copy of all of the chat sessions. I wonder, who was the first to write/speak in a sexual manor and who was the first to make any sexual advances?

Flavious- Not that this has any place here, but I urge you to do a google search for Dan Crane, Robert Bauman, Mark Foley, Jon Hinson, & Donald Lukens. Demos are rats, but not the only ones involved in sex scandals with minors.

I hope you had a good time, dude. You are finished even if you are found not guilty.

No one will hire you. No one will welcome you into their family.

No one will ever trust you.

What on earth were you thinking?

If you are guilty, go for insanity, as I don't knwo what sane person would do such a thing.

Or perhaps you are just really screwed up on drugs, and alchohol.

Sucks to be you!

Agree except for the name calling bit. EX; So I am walking into a grocery store, this kid comes up & gives me $5 and asks me to buy a pck of butts for him. I give him a short statement on the evils of tobacco, but remember I started smoking when I was 13 & it wasn't a big deal. So gave in. Turns out it was an undercover idiot for the police. So I get hauled to court & get a record?????

You know this seems to be a trend in out society. That it is ok some how for a grown man or woman to have relations with teenagers or worse little kids. He should not have been in a chat room looking for young girls and I am sure he did not post all the right info about him.....we worry so much about drugs and yet we allow pervs like this guy to damage our young children (boys and girls) then we wonder why they grow up with problems myself. Any grown man/woman who likes this stuff should be put to death we will eventually wipe out that gene or what ever you want to call it and have normal people walking around......Unless you have been a victim of something like this you do not have a clue about what is does to the psyche of a young child...It messes you up! I talk from experience........So anyone who thinks this is ok or the police should not do this your the sick Bast**ds and should be locked up also.....

Read the related story link. The perv thought he was talking to 13 & 14 year old girls. You should put your brain in motion before putting your tounge in gear!

Agree, but I'm not talking about getting away with it. We are discussing entrapment & being punished legally by a so-called officer of the law doing to somebody what they normally wouldn't have even thought of. If you do the crime - do the time or pay the fine! BUT if you are lured into a situation by an undercover person, why are you guilty? And I'm not defending perverts.

I guarantee you that communications happened more than once (As described in the article the investigation/conversations lasted over a period of time). After the original conversation, regardless of who made the first contact, a crime was committed....solicitation.
It is the fact that he apparently knew the "victim" was underage, whether she existed or not was no longer relevant at that point.

If this guy was just having a bad day or a weird moment in his life, he would have been able to say to himself the next day..."Hey, that was a messed up conversation on the computer last night. I don't want that to ever happen again in my life!"

He then could have proceeded to never talk to that "person" again. And nothing would have ever come of this. But he allegedly continued the conversations over and over again, knowing full well that what he was doing (or attempting to do) was illegal.

And with these sex charges, sometimes solicitation is just as bad as committing the physical crime.

Of course it will all depend on whether the prosecution can prove he did what they say he did.

About entrapment, if the cops would have come knocking on his door during the middle of the first conversation (especially if it was 'her' contacting him) then I could certainly agree with calling it entrapment.
But I truly believe this case is well beyond that.

He knew what he was doing. He knew it was wrong. He continued to do it anyway. He is guilty.

Innocent until proven guilty, but it seems like the gov't has a hook, line and sinker in this one!

Kudos to the police if this gets another perv convicted!

Well, I guess in times like these, when online predators are running amok and you really don't know who you should trust, it's ok because we should stop these evil doers by any means neccessary....

Kinda like with torture and warrentless wiretapping to catch terrorists, right? ;)

I apologize. I did not read the related article. I didn't notice it there at first. From this article, it could be construed as entrpament. However, I can see now, based on the other article, that this guy really was a sicko.

I also agree that if he was initially propositioned by the officer, and it appears he was not, that he should have chalked it off as a stupid thing to do and then never do it again. But, to do it over and over for 7 months shows that he clearly knew what he was doing.

I was sexually abused as a boy by a 27 y/o "friend of the family", so I do know things from that standpoint. My situation lasted a year. The key thing in my situation was that my parents should have known better and been a bit more suspisious of this guy. They should have asked questions. They thought he was a good influence on me. I was too afraid to say anything. I thought that they would be mad at me. The partents have to be the first line of defense. They have to be involved in every aspect of their childrens lives, even if it means spying on them or haveing them be uspset with you. You have to know what they are doing.

Killing this guy or cutting his junk off, as some have suggested, would not stop others. The death peanalty for murder is proof of that. Murders still happen. Perhaps more frequently than ever. Who knows what the solution is? Perhaps there is none. The programs that helped to catch this guy might be a good thing, provided that people are not lured into something they would not have otherwise done. That's my only concern when I read stuff like this. Unfortunatley, The news does not always give us the full story.

I like how they spent 7 months on a relatively victimless crime when they could actually be saving children that are getting abused out there.
