We had a truck in IL this morning that was hit from behind and the car went under the rear of our trailer. Not sure how badly the driver was hurt but the driver had to be cut out of the car.

I drove by it this morning on the way to work. The fire and police were not on scene yet. I did not see a tractor trailer (one was not near the car) but I was so amazed at the damage to the car that I really wasn't look for a semi. The car was horrid looking but the driver was awake and talking with a man who had stopped to help him. I offered my assistance but could hear the sirens in the back ground. The whole front end of the car was pushed in but it looked like the passenger compartment helped up okay. Airbags deployed though. You definitely could not tell what kind of car it was except that it was white! I hope the driver does well. That corner can be slick when it is wet.

College Mom, you were clearly not there. The damaged car was black. The semi was pulled over to the side of Route 30, right in front of the totalled car. The man in the car died. Route 30 was blocked off for a few hours until state troopers could conduct a death accident investigation.
Route 30 in general is an incredibly dangerous road to drive west of 30/34 all the way to route 47. It is well known that people approaching the Douglas intersection go into the right turn lane to speed up and cut off other drivers at the merge. How many more deaths will it take until IDOT wakes up and widens this road? Maybe the family of the poor man who died yesterday will sue IDOT so something is done to accommodate the 45,000 vehicles that travel this road every day. What federal stimulus money, right? Pfft
still in shock

I drove by this accident on my way to work and have been on the computer since trying to find any information I could about it. These couple posts are the first I have seen. You seem to have been able to find some information regarding the accident. Can you please share what happened or direct me to the web page in which you found your information? It was truely a horrific site to see and my prayers go out to all involved and their loved ones.

I drove by the accident around 7:15 and there was just a single WHITE totalled car left on route 30. I started this forum trying to find out info. However, word from Oswego Fire Dept. person, the person inside the car was not killed, the car looked worse then it actually was. Drove into the back of some sort of semi. By the time i got there, the person had to be extracted from the car, making it look worse.

This was a girl in a Buick that hit the back of our trailer. She was taken away by Paramedics and we where told that she would be OK.
Our thoughts are with her and her family.

My husband was the truck driver in this accident. He didn't know what was about to happen. The woman in the car was trying to pass him to go faster and she underestimated the size of the truck I imagine. My husband was so so upset for days after this. His thoughts are with her.
