Like Sandra Vasquez, this (alleged) murderer is also, after 3 years, finally on trial. At least he has been held in jail. Excerpt from Beacon News 6-29-2010:

By STEWART WARREN [email protected]

JOLIET Christopher Vaughn's lawyers argued about a dozen issues in his murder case during a lengthy hearing Tuesday.

Most of the subjects were fairly typical, such as asking Will County Judge Dan Rozak to find Illinois' death penalty unconstitutional. They also asked for permission to rule out 20 jurors from the pool instead of the usual 14.

Christopher Vaughn, a former Oswego resident, has been charged with the June 14, 2007, slayings of his wife and three children in the family's SUV.

The state quickly agreed to some things. Will County Assistant State's Attorney Dede Osterberger said prosecutors would not call Vaughn "an animal" during the trial, for example.

After hearing everything, Rozak decided to take the matters under consideration until 9:30 a.m. Aug. 12.

Vaughn is accused of killing his wife and three children June 14, 2007.

Well, I can't say "FOR SURE" if Vaughn did kill his family, but I'm feeling he's about as innocent as O.J. was.
Based on "my" feelings, wouldn't this be just about how justice goes in our Country? Vaughn will walk free. Knowing all the evidence appears he had a hand in the murder in some form or fashion. Making him......a murderer.
Now, someone like Sandra Valasquez, who clearly "screwd up - BIG TIME" and accidently took five lives can sit behind bars for her and the actions of the five that got in her car as well.
Why do I not have any faith here? Should we get the "welcome home Mr. Vaughn" signs ready now to drape across Main Street?
Grrrrr.......

I can't figure out why this trial is not getting much coverage, if any. Has everyone in Oswego forgotten those murdered children and their mother?

I hope Oswego2 is wrong. If he is guilty I do pray he is found guilty. I don't even know if this is a death penalty case because there has been nothing in the media!

Believe me.....I hope I'm wrong too.:0/

I just don't see how our justice system is "just." Therefore, I brace for yet another mystery to this world.....

The comparison is quite clear to me. Both cases have taken 3 years to come to trial. JUSTICE IS NOT SWIFT IN KENDALL COUNTY.

Isn't Vaughn being tried in Will County?

My error - Vaughn's quadruple murder trial has not begun yet - and it will take place in Will County. Per Erika Wurst, a local SuburbanNews reporter:

"They are still arguing evidence and motions and the like, and the actual trial will not be happening anytime soon. Also, Vaughn is being tried in Will County , not Kane or Kendall , which is what I cover. Our Joliet paper will be handling that case, and when they write stories those will appear in our paper."

I have never forgotten about this case. It took me a little while to search in my browser, but I finally found this site. Has this trial begun yet? If it has, I haven't heard anything. I remember when these killings happened, it was all over the news, then I heard nothing!!! The last thing I heard about this case was that the husband had taken a big life insurance policy out on his wife. Has there been any other developments? If he's found quilty, I hope he's given the death penalty, if there is one in Illinois.

Kittycat in N. Dakota, I am just like you on this case. I can never find anyone else who ever heard of it and yet it's one of the most remarkable crimes I've heard of, worthy of a movie or at least an Ann Rule book. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, the way no one else ever seems to have heard about it!

this case is taking forever to come to trial-it would be nice for the family of the ones killed to have some closure so they can move on with their lives

That only applies to the legal process. This is a Topix board, not a courtroom. We aren't required to presume his innocence. We're allowed to speculate that he's guilty as sin.

My family was in Illinois the day this happened, driving from Texas to Michigan on vacation. If it hadn't happened to be reported in the paper that day, I doubt we'd have heared of it. Certainly no one I've discussed it with here in San Antonio has heard of it. A man who kills his family in such a premeditated and perverse fashion should be a bigger news story. Has murder really become so blase that it doesn't warrant reporting any longer?

The four angels in heaven deserve some justice. Kimberly, a devoted mother and community volunteer lost all her rights to life on earth with her children. WHAT is taking this long to be decided?

Kimberly was a angel from heaven, he should burn, for killing his family, and giving grief to her family!
