The father shouldnt of had the boys watch there sister on a nice day, dad should of been out there too. The boys will play and not have the right mindset to watch there sister while playing outside. Those boys are not responsible for her. I to have 4 children, My God be with the family and I pray that, that little girl makes it.

I knew someone would say something like this. It's always easy to judge until it happens to you. This is a tragedy plain and simple, people are in pain.
You dont think the dad is questioning his decisions pretty hard? Well he can always look to the newspaper and find solace in your words...

Everyone has the right to form their own opinion. Sometimes however, it is best to keep that opinion to yourself. Judging the actions of a stranger won't change the situation, but maybe your prayers will........................

This is such a heartbreaking story! My prayers are with the little girl's family and I hope she makes a full recovery. Kids are pretty resilient. It just depends on how long she was in the water as to what permanent damage, if any, she has sustained. God Bless Kaylin, please watch over her and her family.

Anyone who leaves a 2 year old out to play with other kids (12 and under) is a complete IDIOT!!!!!

You shouldn't judge this father! You know know the whole story and now this little girls is in heaven. I am sure the dad and the brothers of this 2-year old will have feelings of guilt forever - but it is not your place to critize.
My thoughts go out to this family. I am so very sorry for your loss. May god help you get though this as painful as it is.

It's truly sad when in the midst of such tragedy, strangers can point fingers of blame towards parents. Anyone who has raised a child knows how quickly a 2 yr old can turn, run and "vanish" with mom or dad standing beside them. Accidents are just that ... tragic accidents. Let the family be in peace at this time and stop the name calling and blaming.

I am so very sorry for this tragic accident. I am a parent of five, three under three, and know how hard it is when the little ones want to play with the big ones. My daughter is a classmate of one of the brothers and all of our thoughts and prayers go to the entire family.

I am sure this family is suffering greatly and I certainly feel for them. Why should we judge? What parent has never made a mistake while raising children?? Unfortunately, this one resulted in the death of their child. I don't know what could be worse. They seemed to be an attentive, loving family whenever we would seem them at soccer games. Please give them support instead of comdemning them.

We have no right to judge this father. I'm sure he feels bad enough as it is. Maybe he was in the bathroom at the time. Who knows??...but it's not anyone's right to judge. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family.

My heart goes out to this family, there needs to be some assistance with this issue and the family so they do not blame and come to hate each other.

Truly heartbreaking, and how it can hit so close to home. I agree with Lisa - every parent makes mistakes, and it is not anyone's place to judge what the father was or was not doing. I don't know how many times my 2yo has wandered off while we're outside, without us even realizing it. Regardless of the situation, the family needs our prayers. The Lord obviously needed this little girl for some reason that may not be known for a long time. May God be with them all...

An IDIOT is someone who opens their mouth when they know nothing about the situation they are commenting on. It is sad there are people out there who find joy in others pain an do not miss an oportunity to make themselves feel better than others by piling on.

This is a tradgedy that I personal would not wish on anyone. Especially a family as loving and caring as this one is. Furthemore, as the parent of two daughters myself, I cannot imagine what this family is going through right now. They do not need people in Iowa questioning their judgement as parents. I am assuming by your "astute" comment, you are not a parent. Not a day goes by that I do not question the decisions I make with regards to my girls. Everything from what they wear to whether or not to let them play on a piece of playground equipment. This is part of being a parent and though the father did nothing wrong, he will question this decision for the rest of his life (without your input Jenni M). My prayers go out to the family.

About the age...if you feel that way maybe you should personally try to change the curriculum that the Red Cross has set for their babysitting classes which is 11.It is so easy for you to judge.Has anyone considered that the fact there wasn't a fence around the pond?
How would you feel if you were in that situation?
It was an accident. You don't know the parents.
Just for your info the mother has been battling cancer since last year. Not that would make your opinion any different. I love people who are ready to condemn anyone but themselves.I am sorry if your halo has been tarnished by my comment.
