<quoted text>---------- Let's see... the article says that this was a TRIAL link to see if there was actually the ridership there to justify a new link -- sadly, there isn't the ridereship they had anticipated - it was funded by tax dollars -- extended another year to give it a go - and then, since the busing company is being run like a business, and NOT like a COMMUNIST agency where profits are not necessary, or even cost to the run the bus line is necessary, it was decided to CUT BACK. The article goes onto say that this decision was in the works BEFORE the tax property cuts. Now, back to your comment about more cuts to come... YOU SAY THAT LIKE ITS A BAD THING... for those of us working... who don't use those programs... its been pinching my wallet for years and years. I don't have kids, but I get to pay for other peoples kids, as well as put up with their disrespectful attitudes. I don't use ANY of these services - but I get to pay and pay and pay ... someone.. somewhere has concluded... this little donkey canna carry NO MORE.. and its time to off load... so, get up on your own two feet .. and start thinking... because Christina... was getting to work and from work ... prior to that bus line being put into service... TWO YEARS AGO.. and will find ANOTHER ROUTE... at the end of the day. Like the rest of us .. she's going to have face the reality that WE, cannot continue to pay her way for her ... she's going to have to do it herself.. and thats not such a bad thing afterall.. and you never know... two years from now.. Christina may come back and say "hey, I found a better route... it worked out after all.." and finally, WHAT DID WE ALL DOOO BEFORE THESE SERVICES? We handled it.
ok then...here's one from today...

"On the potential chopping block is Crotty's Children's Legacy program, a $530 million package to build roads, buy sensitive lands and pay for commuter rail, he said."

would you like me to update as the cuts come in?

Hmmm...so you are saying that she is just out of luck, go ahead and hang it all up, go sit in a corner and cry all day long? Is that what you would do? What I am saying is that she has working arms & legs and not bound to a wheelchair to take advantage of other options. Obviously Lynx is being taken from her so she needs to take some other kind of action now. And that is from my chair in Ft. Myers!
lynx could run 6 trips a dayfor people could get back and forth to work, where i live theres only a half dozen people that ride the bus but it Still runs.granted not 18 times a day but during buisness hours. its worth it if it keeps these 5 people off welfare or food stamps or from being homeless. orlando is supposed to be a major city its time it started acting like one!! why are our local leaders in office if they Can'tget federal funding for public transportation??

NOTHING was ever on tv!!,newspaper,

I've never been able to ride Lynx buses because they've never gone anywhere useful.

Coming from Philly, I was accustomed to taking public transportation sometimes 7 days a week. I was surprised to see the 1 mile stretch between my Altamonte Springs apartment and my work in Longwood had no bus service at all.

If the Lynx management had to ride the buses and give up their (company?) car, service would improve and ridership would rise.

Find some new people to run the place who actually care about their jobs.

We need to cut waste at LYNX. Bloated salaries and patronage jobs.

The LYNX Access program transports people from remote parts of the area to their destination which is as much as 50 miles away. Because they do not drive.

This is a no fee program to the rider that is subsided by taxpayers.

Lets see...some of you idiots would rather pay for welfare and food stamps then Lynx, so people can PAY taxes and improve themselves.

What a bunch of smart people here!!!

Of what are you the "King"? Do you actually believe everyone is lower than you? You seem to like belittling people. Must make you feel good about yourself. It is not enough for some people to do well, the others must lose. I'm sure it is very lonely on top.

The lady in question is a cabinetmaker. That is a reputable trade. If that is not good enough for you, just remember you are sharing this board with people of all walks of life.

If you believe whatever it is you do for a living makes you better than others, I have some bad news for you: It only proves to others you're not.

Someone made the cabinets in your house.

Well, ya you do have a right to know whats going on, but at the same time you gotta take in consideration that they have a job to do and can't tell you something before they have all their facts straight. And ya they do use cell phones these days cause the dumba** criminals where a step ahead of them when they were able to get their little hands on a scanner. Ever thought about that? Well its true! If you don't believe me then feel free to ask a cop! Please don't feel that im comming off rude just wanna point out something that many people don't think about.

Exactly what is wrong with her "career"? Seems to me she is providing for her children and herself. Might not be an easy road, lord knows I wouldn't be too happy riding a bus 4 hours a day to get a few miles down the road. But, she's doing it, supporting her family and not asking you for anything. She, unlike many others is actually trying to better her life.

So, if she was an attorney or doctor using public transportation as a conscious conservation effort would that change your opinion of her? Would that make the situation any different because she could then simply drive to her job? Public transportation isn't just for those without a vehicle or an welfare you know. The idea,(which most
floridians don't get) is MASS transportation = less fuel, less congestion, less road repairs etc. Public transprotation is designed with those things in mind...not the people on the public dole.

You're right. She simply assembles Part A to Part B, etc. She is not a cabinet maker. Cabinet making is a skilled profession, not a minimum wage job.
