The yellow buses are going strong -- maybe she could take one of them?

Seriously, how are working people going to get to work so they can feed their school children?

This country is upside down.

...and this is just the beginning of the repercussions of the property tax cuts. Good thing you got that $240.
I bet Christina McGowan and her two kids would rather have her job instead.

You voted for lower taxes. This is the first of MANY cutbacks.
Get used to it.

Excellent decision. We need to cut more subsidized services. Taxpayers are fed up.

This is not due to property tax cuts, no matter what they will try to tell you. There is so much pork in those budgets that needs to be trimmed...all as a result of overspending caused because they had so much extra money from the property tax run-up. This is government leaders trying to frame Amendment 1 as the culprit to avoid doing the real work that needs to be done in cost cutting. And they are doing it at the expense of poor people. Demand better, people. This is your government. The cuts need to come from places that are severely overfunded and the rich are benefiting from that. Demand accountability. Don't just sit there and take it or say I told you this would happen if you voted "Yes." Amendment 1 is not the problem. Years of overspending in the wrong areas is the problem and we deserve better.

How about instead of blaming voters who voted to lower property taxes you place the blame where it truly belongs and hold those people accountable? Let's take a look at the politicians in office who wouldn't know a budget if it bit them in the arse. Let's make them open the books so we can take a look at exactly where they are spending the surplus they have extorted out of people with taxes for the past 4-5 years. Let's see how many trips, parties, office remodels etc. our tax dollars have paid for. Let's make them cut back on their frivilous spending and there won't be cuts to any services whether that be lynx or police and fire. PEOPLE hold those who handle the money and in many cases misuse that authority accountable.

"If we lose the route, we will lose our jobs, go back on welfare and food stamps," said McGowan, 44.HMMM if my job were to be threatened like this i would start looking around for another job , obviously this one doesent pay enough to get a car so it wouldnt be much of a loss. The want ads are full of jobs get out of your comfort zone and upgrade yourself instead of giving up and expecting ME to pay for your lot in life

Maybe we should look at eliminating welfare and food stamps too? There is much abuse and mismanagement with those programs.

"We're running it like a business."

'However...it is a business without a dedicated source of funding...customer fares make up less than 20% of the $114 million operating budget.'

How long would my business exist with an 80% operating deficit? And that number doesn't include their capital budget (a 100% deficit item).

Mass transit is welfare with lipstick.

It is not the Govevernemts job to supply anyone with tranportation. Keep lowering taxes and we can solve our own problems.

YOU voted? How can you claim to know how someone else voted. Just because the BS amendment passed, doesn't mean EVERYone voted for it. I damn sure didn't.

"Our goal is to put taxpayer dollars to the best use," said Lynx spokesman Matt Friedman.

"We're running it like a business."

What a joke these statements are. They have not run that place right since service was started. LYNX has been mismanaged for years and now they propose to run it properly. It is almost laughable. The current management could not run that right if they even tried to, They are all incompetent. If they were running a private sector business, they would have been bankrupt by now.

"I do four hours of traveling to do an eight-hour job," she said.

How about doing less traveling and more work. Then you might have more money and could afford alternative transportation. There is a novel approach.
