211 hotline trims staff, hours after losing state aid
WHITE PLAINS - The 211 social services hotline cut its hours of operation and laid off staff after the state discontinued aid to the organization.

One good thing about the state having budget problems, stupid programs like this one are cut back. As this welfare hotline operated 24 hours/day and 95 percent of calls came in during the day why keep it open all those hours? Frankly, it should have no government funding at all.
