It's difficult to imagine the pain that drives a person to take his own life, a pain so unbearable that death seems the only way out. My sympathy to both families, who are now left to sort out the pieces as they grieve their lost loved ones.

You must have one held to your ear 24/7.

Selfish bastard blowing his head off in his car. At least have the friggin common courtesy to do it not in a public place and especially not while behind the wheel of a running car. At least he had the b*lls to do it himself rather than the other coward who has someone do his dirty work. Poor engineer won't get that image out his head anytime soon.

My sympathies to the families who must endure the pain and heartache of such selfish acts leaving them behind to always wonder why, what could we have done different...

We are in agreement that suicide is a selfish act. When one is in such a place as to seriously attempt to take his own life, he's consumed with his own anguish and his own pain is far bigger than the logical thought, "How could I do this to my family?" Mental illness is probably the least understood of any condition. I pray that you and your family are never faced with it.

I'm grateful that no others were injured by the rolling vehicle. That would make this story so much more than twice as sad.

People that commit suicide are selfish. Their pain may be over, but what about the pain he/she just caused everyone that loved and cared for them? One of my old high school friends just killed himself and I never in a million years would have thought he would have been the one to do it. But all I think now is what a selfish xxxx for leaving behind an infant son, a number of siblings, and both parents. Not to mention those of us that still cared for him. It truly sucks.

I was surprised by the headlines. It sounded like two people committed suicide together. The article is very poor also. What about the guy on the railroad tracks. How do you know he was trying to commit suicide? This is a very flat report. No content or information. D-.

As hard as it is, and we feel we have been wronged by someone who takes their own life, I think maybe we are being a little selfish to not see their pain or tell them every day how much we love them, and together count are blessings. I always tell my kids, the worst thing is we could be dead. And everything else is better than that.
So I guess we are OK!

I also have to agree with Zen Birdist when she states that we really do not understand mental illness.

To quote the Beatles "Love is all there is".

How selfish is it to think someone should stay alive just for you or someone else?
