Sounds like a dog and pony show. And how much did they spend on the "search" firm to find local people?

Well, if Kazoua Kong-Thao is excited I sure am;
I might have been worried otherwise.
:)
Think about the finalists; 4 whites and a
minority..........from Oregon.
Does it take a rocket scientist to figure out
the math on this one? Bet on Silva.

They all look like they'll pass their pedophiles onto other school districts without telling a soul, as per the union contracts.
It's the Mea/NFT way.
Public "education" is less than worthless.

You mean you are not going to fly another outsider in, or maybe a California NUT?
Now, with pressure from the locals, you have decided to choose from the local mix.
You dunces are so predictable it is insane! Here is an idea...spend a huge amount of money to get the puppet you want, after two years, fire them and start again!
Get a freaking clue you idiots! St. Paul School Board, they can't be somebodies any place else--so they try the board.

Boy, I'm surprised they have included two token white men. Fat chance they'll get the job.

I sure hope the tax payers money being pumped down a rat hole looking for a superintendent is not a total lose. I think the person they select should be a male, for in recent history all the female superintendents have been really stiffing the tax payers, and making the ones responsible for hiring them in the first place look really stupid, which evidently they are.

Lots of local talent there, but we will be reading the same article in a few years, when whoever they hire leaves for a better district. We all know that any Super job in Minneapolis or St. Paul is a short-term gig.

I would be happy to see any of the candidates EXCEPT the insider candidates~Stachel & Silva~ get the job. And fervently hope whomever the next superintendent is, that they have the ability, guts & stick-to-itiveness (is that a word?) to redeem the SPPS. Because these kids are beautiful and deserve far more of ALL OF US than they have been getting under the Street-Stewart/Carstarphen/Har vey regimes.

Stachel & Silva, as district insiders, are part of the problem. And I hate to say it because she seems to have done all right in North Branch, my fear is the same would be true of Deb Henton. Which, if the Board follows my stream (they won't, I'm sure!) I also believe having a male superintendent would be A Good Thing to help balance out the estrogen heavy leanings of the district over the last decade. All women at the top isn't any better balanced than all men at the top used to be, back in the day. So yes, I'm ready for some fresh testosterone here! Hopson would be fine with me, as he appeared to stay on the job w/Portland, and seems to want to relocate here. But I want to know the reason why he wants to relocate here, and why he wants the St Paul job.

It is my belief this district really needs fresh blood, and a very different worldview about education in general and education of at risk students in particular. So that is what I'm looking for in the next superintendent. I don't want another Harvard clone who buys the curriculum off the shelf like the last two did (and continue to do) because they fear empowering the people who can make the biggest difference: the educators. Not just teachers. But ALL the educators who interact with kids, regardless of what union and bargaining unit they work in.

And wouldn't it be great if the next superintendent threw NCLB & the testing industry hacks out of the district?

Well, we can always dream.

I rooting for Stan Mack to get the job, as I assume that means we in the Robbinsdale district would be off the hook for much of his golden parachute, the one for which we are shelling out huge tubfuls of dough.
On the other hand, I wouldn't wish Stan on anybody...

Well there,s not a snowballs chance in hell either of the two white males get the job. They are simply window dressing.

The guy from Portland luckily is Afro-Amercian so he has a shot, although being a male or any race doesn't help. He's also not from here which is beneficial to him. The transient thing is big when it comes to sups.

The caucasian women are in reasonable shape. Being white is a problem, but the hyphenated last name is a huge positive with this crowd.

What is truly disappointing is we are missing the ultimate candidate. The African American Female...WITH the hyphenated last name.

I think the search group needs to go back to the drawing board.

Excellent assessment of the situation, Excellent! However, given the politically correct climate in St. Paul--How about a Hmong Lesbian?

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Taurus

Keep calm! Your emotions are becoming increasingly heightened and intense today. As a result, you're likely to take things much more seriously than usual. That's wonderful if you're involved in a hot and heavy encounter with Mr or Ms Right, but it won't be such good news if you go overboard about silly trifles. If you're doing some last-minute shopping you'll want to be as extravagant as your budget allows. Or is it a case of Budget...? What budget?
