I can't believe how terribly bad and mid-2oth century Pluris South Gate Water Utilities in Southgate, Sarasota is.

First, my brother and roommate died the first of June. He paid the water bill, I paid phone, internet, and cable. We split electric. While making memorial arrangements and just trying to deal with the loss the first week. I found a "cut-service" notice attached to my front door -- my brother could be late at times. So I went to Google to see if I could find an address for the Pluris office in Sarasota. I found it just a couple blocks from my house. I drove over with cash and a checkbook, ready to make the payment. Problem was it was service depot for Pluris workers. There was no Pluris office in Sarasota. They gave me an address and phone for their office in North Carolina. I called and explained my situation, and ready with my debit/credit card. THEY DONT TAKE PAYMENTS BY PLASTIC! WTF! I asked where I could pay in town. Sorry THEY DON'T HAVE A PAYMENT OFFICE IN TOWN! UNFx43@ingbelievable! KEE-HRIST, this is Sarasota not Opp, Alabama. Just wanted to vent. Share, anyone?

Agree with you whole-heartedly karma! Although I've been paying the bills via my bank's service -- apparently I was $18 behind somehow and hadn't noticed. I also got a notice on my door when I returned from vacation and immediately sent $50 to cover it (and more) just in case. Today my service was disconnected -- apparently they haven't gotten the last check yet even though it's been 5 days in the mail. I called to see if I could just pay whatever over the phone to restore service -- and as you mentioned, there's no way to do it. Unbelievably frustrating to say the least!

Welcome to the club folks. I was slightly late sending a payment via my online bill pay so the next bill showed that charge as well as the current one. I paid the current due amount as the previous month had already been sent and figured all was well. Wrong! Got the cut off notice at 4 pm on friday July 2nd. After a long discussion with their one and only customer service agent, Erica, and going over six months of billing, she refused to believe the numbers that were right in front of her. Knowing that I was screwed, I immediately sent the money in, again, via bill pay. Because of the holiday weekend it was not sent until 7/06 and then delivered on 7/08. On the 13th they shut the water off and claimed they did not have the check. After 4 hours of going back and forth with the bank and Pluris including a three way phone conversation, I was left with no option but to pay the bill for the third time via Fedex (no other type of transaction can be done with this crappy company). As karma chanic and grass stated they will not accept any form of plastic nor will they accept a wire transfer. The closest office where money can be dropped off is Tampa. Their North Carolina office is so far out in the boondocks that Fedex cannot even deliver before 4:30 the next day. Words of warning....document all of your dealings with this company very carefully...they will screw you. At this time, I am demanding all account records going back to when they took over in 11/09 as well as all meter reading numbers. One month, our water bill doubled from its normal. No leaks, no filling pool, but they claim the meter doesn't lie and find nothing unusual that our bill doubled. Be very careful with Pluris. They are owned and operated by California crooks. I am gathering information about unusual bills from this company and will be writing an article in the South Gator News. Maybe a class action law suit?

I've just been informed that my water has been turned, for no discernible reason other than for not paying a bill I never received. I suppose I should have perceived the amount of payment due through the Vulcan mind meld or something. Of course, Pluris did not turn on the water upon my written request for my arrival in July, thankfully, my plumber was there when I arrived and he made a call then it was turned on. It does appear we have a lopsided customer relationship with this company, no service but we pay, pay, pay. Perhaps a call to the county or to the Florida state attorney general's office, I'm new to this area but I'm willing to give it a try and certainly support what other customers feel is necessary.

We have problems receiving our monthly bills from them. I think every month we have to call them and ask them to send us a bill. We have read that many people have been having problems with them. Getting over charged and getting there water turned off for no reason. We need to get rid of this company!

They are ridiculous! They claim that it over 9 days for my check to be received by their bill processing center, sent from Sarasota to bumf**k, North Carolina. The "manager" I spoke with said that mail is especially heavy in mid-September and that they are not responsible for delays in the mail service. Charged me a late fee for the two days they say they receive it past the due date. Won't take electronic payments. No win....we seem to be at their mercy.

I agree, they are taking advantage and in this day in age, electronic payments are a must...THEY ARE NOT LISTENING TO THEIR CUSTOMERS....HELLO....If you want us to be happy.....BE FLEXIBLE!!! You WANT TO BE PAID....GIVE YOURE CUSTOMERS OPTIONS!!! LIFE HAPPENS...I'm all for taking this to the COUNTY & the States Attorney's office. SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE...

I cannot believe how much my bill has doubled in the past few months!!!!!! please b rid of this company as soon as possible. my boss has a 4 bedroom 3 bath house with a pool and he lives on the water in a beautiful district..his bill was only $40 he actually took the time out of his busy schedule to call them..the prices of the water are incredibly high!! I would now like to move out of my house because of this. i have lived there 5 yrs. my bill was only $60 for a long time. and now it $180! I am absolutely furious about this. I am a single mother with 2 kids, on disability and can barely make ends meet. my bill has been late often and never not once been late. someone please take care of this problem somehow so i and many others wont have to leave their homes.(Sarasota, FL)

Take it to the Public Utlities Commission. They are there to assist in these types of cases.

Don't let em blow ya off either. Make noise, contact one of those TV news consumer investigators, they love to jump on stories like this.

Put pressure on this company. Jerks like that need to be put in the spotlight and they will back down.

I have had a similiar negative experience as many of you with Pluris not posting my payment in a timely manner. Their lack of payment options is absolutely in the dark ages. Shame on the City of Sarasota for allowing these people in our great city with this kind of terrible service.

Today I learned that Pluris has initiated a pay online service on their website at: http://pluriscompanies.com

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $2.00 FEE TO USE THIS SERVICE.

In my case that is the same as a 4% increase in my cost of services. I am curious to know if that increase was authorized by the PSC?

I agree with the inefficient, non-caring attitude. Apparently one can now log onto www.plusiscompanies.com (thanks Terry)and pay. I saw at least 6 yellow tags today including me. I had mailed my payment a week ago and the current bill isn't here yet. I agree with writing the Public Utility Commission. Some of the realtors in my office @ Coldwell Banker have had repeated problems trying to get water turned on to sell bank-owned properties. No or delayed response. Therefore, they bought a tool to turn on the master to allow a home inspection. As everyone appears to say, this is totally unacceptable. Randy Schweitzer

White collar crooks can do anything they want to in Florida especially Sarasota. They turn a blind eye to it. Only law abiding citizens get the screw there.

No physical mailing address? Maybe they're not legit. Talk about deceiving people nowadays. There are many criminal minds nowadays. Be careful. When I first moved into the neighborhood we too experienced many of the same frustrations. Not knowing how to get the water turned on and where to even send a bill or how to get it. I remember calling City of SRQ and they stated that SRQ alone has 11 water companies. Not only was I shocked to hear this news but even more shocked to find out my "Local" water company was housed in North Carolina.

When I finally got in touch with them, I too was horrified to find out the only way to pay them is to send a check in the mail. My job requires me to travel a lot and I prefer to pay all of my bills on line. That way, if I'm in Alaska or somewhere crazy for business I can simply go online to pay my bill.

I too have been charged outrageously for a water bill, to the point that you would have thought I filled two swimming pools from my home and I do not have a pool. Pluris came and re-read my meter and said there was obviously an issue on their end. I called for weeks and weeks on end. Each time getting the run around stating they were still looking into it or that the manager hadn't got back to them. I continued to give them $100 as to not get behind on my regular months and eventually, after about three months they stated that I owed the full amount that had been in debate and that they had no record or knowledge of any of the previous months phones calls or even that the re-read was done and they claimed their fault. It's like everything vanished and they didn't care. I had to pay no matter what! I was furious and unfortunately during that time I was traveling so much that I just didn't have the time or patience to fight it!

I went on line today to see if they had put up a "Pay online" option yet and to my surprise I found all of you!

Welcome to Southgate everyone! I love the neighborhood, have been here for a year but I DO NOT LIKE PLURIS!

everyone needs to complain to better business bureau, florida senator/representative/attorne y general etc. bbb has only received one complaint in past year.
