As the father of an 8 mo old boy, it is very hard to read stories like this. This "mom" is deranged. I wish she would have taken the baby's place.

SUV? Why the emphasis on the fact it was an SUV? They are evil, we get it.

What, they should refer to them as a vehicle that's not a car, not a truck and not a van?

Just what is it that you disagree with? I am asking a question not making a statement. You can judge clueless, nuts and disagree but I see you don't have the stones to answer the question.

There is more to this story than the rest of you don't know! I know this women and yes she has problems. Nothing that can ans would be done to her would ever bring this child back! No one can beat her up as much as she is beating herself up! Every one take a good look at themselves and look deep before you judge this person! I have known this women for many years, she is a good person when she is not drinking or using other types of drugs! She has not had the best life, yes she is the only one whom and could of changed her life style!
but drugs and drinking can take over peoples life's like you wouldn't believe!

Yes, I'm familiar with problem drinking, having been a problem drinker myself. But I never put the kids in the family vehicle and tootled around drunk in St Paul, LA or DC.

Should Winnebago County just say, "Kayla, you've made a big mistake. Never do that again."

Unfortunately a child is dead. What else is the DA's office supposed to do?

And you know what? According to the story, the woman is 27 years old. She has to start learning from her mistakes. It doesn't seem like she has.

So the State of Wisconsin must intervene.

And I'm sorry I answered this for you but this particular subject really perplexes me: what happened to personal responsibility? Some among us seem to think that saying, "Oh, I made a mistake" absolves all things.

The woman from Brainerd who was (again!) convicted of downloading and distributing copyrighted material seems almost blasť about the whole thing. "I can't pay."

Someone will undoubtedly pay all the attorneys' fees, though, I can guarantee that. And she meant to tell us she cannot afford 79, 89 or 99 cents for a musical download? Remember when we couldn't even share music, except by loaning out your LPs? When Walkman came out, I was deliriously happy. Seems so long ago now.

Many equiped with wombs shouldn't be.

There needs to be a competency test before people are allowed to bear kids.

Were that it was so but there aren't any guarentees when it comes to parenting - or kids. Some children, who have come from some pretty stinky backgrounds, have managed to become great and responsible people. Some kids, who have been raised with every privilege and all the love possible, turn out badly. You can only teach, pray and love; then hope for the best.
intresting

I find it very intresting that the first bit +of news anounced when these things happen is "intoxicated". Why do we as a country let people get away with what amounts to first degree murder, because they were drunk. The charge whould be Murder not homicide by intoxicated use of vehicle. Just murder. your choice of weapon should not matter nor should your CHOICE of mental state.

This woman did not just on a drunken whim decide to kill her problem. The thought must have existed first for the act to occure drunk or not.

As to beating herself up over it GOOD. she should be put in a cell and rot there for life. If she really did not want her baby all she had to do was walk into any emergency room and say "here". no questions asked. tell any social worker that she "couldn't handle it" and she would have had "help out the &**
Give up trying to understand these woman and stuff them in a cell to never see the light of day again.
