Medical marijuana meeting was a success
We had a great turnout on Wednesday night June 17 at the Greenbush Township Hall for our third Northeast Michigan Medical Marijuana Compassion Club meeting. We are a small organization recently established to help people understand the new laws and assist them in the legal process to grow, possess and use medical marijuana in Michigan legally.
Marijuana is now legal in our state as medicine. However not everyone can get it. First you must meet certain medical qualifications before you become legal
Our next meeting is July 15 at the Greenbush Township Hall 7-9 pm. The meeting is open to everyone however you must be 18 or be with an adult. Check us on www.nemicompassionclub.ning.com

We the people voted last nov to let the sick and disabled use medical marijuana. However isoco county feels it was neccessary to lock up a 62 year old grandmother and charged her with a "FELONY" even though she has a medical Marijuanan card and is legal.
the big drug bust ""two small plants 5 inches tall.....
Gramma is now home and set for trail next week
your taxdollars at work ..However you will be glad to know there was a fellow there that had a mistrial with CSC charges that got to go free
this is a major injustice .we the people pass this with a 63% vote ..this gestapo nazi tactics must stop... people should not have to live in fear over a plant that give them relief and a quality of life
Stop arresting the sick and disabled? why do they do it? maybe they just like an easy mark.. Gramma has a walker and can't go very fast
Get a real job law enforcement and start getting some real criminals off the street

Really? police and prosecutors are wasting our tax money big time. First this new law, then Obama saying this week he won't bother spending money going after medical patients but we continue to waste money. I did not vote for this law so we could send sick peole to jail...TT

If they are not following the law they are criminals,
follow the rules and the police will leave you alone!
#5 Oct 21, 2009
You are wrong... The police haven't left anyone alone. Tell that to the people in bad axe when the cops busted a medical grow and destroyed medicine for patients cause they didn't know the law.
or the people who was sitting in their house feeling secure and being good legal patients when their door got busted down for no reason cause the cops didn't know the law or just didn't care.
Bottom line is a lot of leos don't like the new law.. The days of easy bust of people in wheelchairs is coming to a end. They can't harass little old ladies with walkers just because they are an easy target
How many times do we hear ignorance of the law is no excuse?
The law was passed by 63% of michigan voters last fall It's here so people better learn it and get use to it
were patients.... were legal and we're not going away

Here we are, our schools are not properly funded, services including police are being cut back, and we are spending our tax money to persecute and prosecute elderly women with obvious medical conditions. Even the federal government has come to it's sense on this issue. We don't need to spend our money on such ridiculous things. There is real crime going on in this county, lets focus on that. Will you feel safer with a crippled lady in jail? Is that the bang for the buck you expect?
#7 Oct 21, 2009
If we continue to spend money on this crap, we need to cut back funding for those involved. Police/prosecutors/judges your lack of common sense is going to bite you in the backside where your wallet is.

Sometimes civil disobedience is in order. It has been a staple of our society. Does Boston tea party sound familiar? How about civil rights? If no one broke the law we would be a colony of England yet. In this case the Marijuana law in MI passed overwhelmingly. The feds made it official and are not going to bother with marijuana. And we bury our head in the sand

Well anyone who's ever been to the Tawas area can attest that just about all of the police officers in the area are bored and looking for action. Good luck trying to get face-time on C.O.P.S for busting sick elderly women jerkoffs.

Well gramma had enough so due to the stress and the shyster lawyer we hired from tawas that went to bed with the prosecutor... She took a plea to possesion... She has to pay a fine of 25 dollars a month for ONE YEAR and probabtion (7411).. this lady who lives on SSI and really can't afford this.... there is also the subject of random drug testing by the courts. This is a legal Medical MJ patient BTW
These test are charged to her at 42 dollars everytime even though she is allowed to use medical marijuana and it will show up on the test.
They claim they want to test for other drugs as well like cocaine and heroin. This lady on coke and heroin give me a break this is nothing but a ploy to drain her of more money.....
I'm sure the reason we voted on this law was to take care of the sick and disabled people that could use marijuana without the fear of going to jail for nothing more that a plant.
I think we've lost compassion for the almight dollar and we squeeze it out of anyone we can..
even sick and disabled folks.....
that just sad........the people that we voted to protect in the first place.....
I belive we need to CLEANSE the court and rid the system of these people who turn a deaf ear to the peoples word.
Over 63% of michiganders voted yes for medical marijuana and I'd bet today if we voted the numbers would be even higher
Did you know not one county in the entire state voted against medical marijuana?? Michigan became the first stae in the midwest to pass this and more are going to follow you can bet on it
Stop harassing the sick and disabled and start some compassion.....Marty Starliper

Have you tried the ACLU?
#14 Jan 8, 2010
ACLU is working with the Mi medical marijuana here in michigan
SAGINAW, Mich.-- The American Civil Liberties Union is keeping an eye on medical marijuana regulation in Michigan.
The Saginaw City Council could take up the rezoning proposal again a week from Monday.
In December, council members approved a six-month moratorium, but the measure needs a second vote to become final.
The moratorium puts a freeze on medical marijuana production and use while leaders rework zoning laws for the drug.
Voters OK'd medical marijuana last fall.
The Michigan ACLU told the Detroit News over the weekend that it stands ready to challenge any ordinance that conflicts with state law.
a little busy right now.....

The county sheriff needs to know that the people will not stand for the sheriffs dept.bringing charges against their grandparents for marijuana use and possesion. Their jobs and budgets are given to them by the citizens of the county they work for. They should be protecting the rights of the citizens, not violating them.

I have to say, if she has a card and she is within the guidelines of the law, they CANNOT prosecute her and WIN nor would they wish to as they can be sued civily. So maybe you don't know everything about the case? I hope this makes a little sense.
#18 Jan 25, 2010
I know the case well. Gramma got caught with two very small marijuana plants Next day she had her certification. She took it down to the police and showed them. For 104 days she heard nothing assuming they have dropped the case since she showed them proof of her being a legal patient.
Instead they called her on the phone in the early am and told her they had a warranr for her.. If she didn't turn herself in they would come and get her
when she went to the court house the little old lady with a walker and is on disabilty where they charged her with a felony and place her in jail till the judge showed up hours later
I'm sure the leo's had better things than this to do than harass the sick and disabled....
#19 Jan 29, 2010
Have they dropped the charges, as long as everything is legit, I certainly hope they have...
just asking, you mentioned, "Gramma got caught with two very small marijuana plants Next day she had her certification", she did have her card PRIOR to getting caught, correct?
if so, it is unfortunate that time and money were wasted on this, and more importantly, grandma's peace of mind!!!
#20 Jan 30, 2010
again, if she did everything legally... they cannot prosecute her..please let me know what they cited her for.
