Jail and Bail strengthens communities.

Fund-raisers brings us together.

That couldn't be truer for Jail and Bail.

When I lived down-state, the city I lived in had a tradition to raise funds for certain organizations. It was called 'Jail & Bail'.
The money that was raised went to a worthy cause.

What makes this effort so special is its concept. Community members, some who are public officials and other leaders, teachers, business owners etc., are arraigned and sentenced in mock trials. During their "incarceration," the prisoners are accorded unlimited phone privileges. They call potential donors who make contributions either to release them from jail or keep them behind bars.

Few fund-raising campaigns are as much fun or effective as Jail and Bail. Each community throughout the state and the nation stages their own version of the event.

Jail and Bail also is an activity that never fails to bring the community together, and
besides, what better fun could there be than watching your favorite public official or person, sentenced to jail? It's difficult to imagine a better way to spend the day.
