Leave the BMV alone! They are doing the best they can. Ever go to a Doctors office?

If you need stickers have someone take several peoples info, and do it all a one time. Took me 20 mins to do three, and mine don't expire until April. Simple.

The BMV is nothing but a money maker for the Governor. The notices get mailed out too late for customers to receive their new tags by mail. When I tried to show up in person, my local branch is so busy because of other branch closings, it's either miss a days work and spend it in line, or wait till the plate expires and pay the $5.00 late fee. Rediculous!

Always one excuse after another. Some people need to know in advance how much their renewals are in order to budget. Does anything in this county work?

I got a letter a few weeks ago saying my plates were expiring but they needed my drivers license number...the BMV needed my drivers license number??

I went to the BMV on Michigan Road near closing time on the last day of the month. I was in and out within 20 minutes! Great job!

Government should quit trying to make money. Hire enough people to do the job right. The new computer system is a joke. We're tired of all the excuses from the BMV ... you've cut staff and closed branches to the point where good service is impossible for them to provide.

this is just a plot by the government to get more money out of you. most people don't realize that indiana, compared to other states in the country, is very old school and not with the times. this is just a way for them to get more money. they don't send you anything, and you don't even realize it (because police officers for some reason think that if your tail light is out, and you don't realize it, that it is your fault. or if your registration is a little old and you didn't realize it they think you are horrible). so they pull you over, ticket you because you didn't get a renewal notice. just typical indiana ways. our state laws and government are very outdated, and untill we get rid of the old hags that run this state nothing is gonna get better.
Your plates expire the same date every year. Take responsibility for yourself and buy the tags before they are due. Do you need a reminder to file your income tax return and get that refund? No, of course not. Grow up.

Last month I renewed my driver's license in Greencastle. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Great job. BMV is improving - try them and see for yourself.

Last month I renewed my driver's license in Greencastle. I was in and out in 5 minutes. During that short visit they served several other people as well as me. Great job. BMV is improving - try them and see for yourself.

They want to ensure that the vehicles are registered to a valid driver so the people who have been revoked have a harder time getting valid tags. Also has the same effect on illegal immigrants. Harder, but unfortunately not impossible.

Glad to see Michigan Road is doing as well as Greencastle at improving service.

You could be a responsible adult and do it on time, on your own. I did mine online, got it quickly and easily. Grow up.

Is this an excuse to lease out the BMV? Mitch needs to look at nobody but himself for the problems at BMV. He fired any one with knowledge and brought in his people to reinvent it.

Branches have nothing to with mail in registrations.... so, your point is?

I would have to say that the system was broke for years before Daniels came in. Ever try waiting in line in any one of the branches here under the 16 years of Democrat control? Not a pretty picture. Sometimes you couldn't even get a transaction processed at all because they found something to nitpick. Mitch has brought in people who actually understand customer service, rather than bureaucracy and cronyism.

I got my renewal letter yesterday and my plates expire on the 15th. I've been expecting the notice and already planned on paying even if I didn't get the notice.

You missed the point of the Article Mike. BMV is not mailing out the renewal notices till after they are due. The on line computer systems doesnt work. Why doesn't BMV just tell us that they have screwed up and we will get in line with everyone else. I tried the auto ATM maching after hours and it didnt work. Not all of us can take off work, Add my lost wages to the cost of plates.

We have been waiting for are new plates to be sent, my son was pulled over on his way to work (slid on ice). He explained to the officer that we are still waiting on plates. Officer told him not to drive this truck untill plates arrived and wrote him a ticket think its 140.00. He as to take time off work to go in front of the judge or pay the ticket.

I've renewed 4 auto registrations in 2 months without receiving any renewal notice. Each time I've gone to the BMV in Noblesville and told them I hadn't received the renewal form I've been told that it's just a courtesy of the BMV. They don't have to mail out renewals according to "Joe" at the Noblesville branch.

Oh geeze... typical knee jerk reactions by people who just don't have the facts. Compliance has always been a responsability of the individual but mistakes have always been made. This is something new? Hardly. You're just being made more aware of it than before. I'll second what others have said. Grow up, Indy Mike.
