Yes I do remember Stormy's I was there many times but I can't recall the Loco Inn,where was it located?

The LoCo Inn was located on Crompton Road as you headed to the Shoe Factory. They later turned it into a day care, I think called Noah's Ark. In the mid to late 60's we would cruise from Stormy's (when it sat on the big parking lot in front of Hays where they put a bank)and circle the LoCo then back to Stormy's. Also, the Rebel Club!!

Hey Jim,did you ever hang out at the skating rink? Back in the 70's that was our main hang out.But of course in the warm weather we loved to just sit on the benches at the court house and watch the traffic and wait for someone we knew to stop and pick us up.You would'nt catch kids doing that now.

Little older than you probably, but yes I spent a lot of Sat. nights at the skating rink in the mid -late 60's to early 70's. Remember the police station right across the street. We would also part on the old Piggly Wiggly / Goodyear parking lot and watch others cruise 61.

I am a few years older than you, and I remember when Piggly Wiggly was National Foods. Also when the "old" Hayes was Big Star before the Big Star was built in Gateway shopping center. Do you remember Big Star, TG&Y, the laundromat and Stevens Cafeteria in the shopping center.

tg&y was similiar to sterling. Do you remember the big fire downtown that burned almost the whole block with Sterlings, the fabric place, etc. Also the fire that burned the Belk's store. The tasty grill did have good hamburgers.

Oh yeah I remember that big fire very well, the one that burned the sear's store, sterlings and I vagely remember the one at Belk's.A bunch of us were at the river grain and saw the glow we went uptown and watched it for hours. What side of town did you live on.I grew up on the east side.Do you remember when the river got so high that it was just a couple of feet from the top of the levee.I'm not sure what year it was but I was pretty young.

When the fires occurred I lived on the east side of town (Lee St) only a few blocks from the fire. I had a lot of fun at river grain myself. I do remember the river getting within a few feet of the top of the levee but can't recall the exact year. Do you remember when the high school played football at Hale Field?

Oh yeah, that's the only place I ever went to a football game,I was'nt much into ball games and did'nt go to many except homecoming games.Did you ever go to what we called the two ponds? It was across the levee on the gravel road that goes out to rivergrain, just past riverport. We used to go out there and drink T.J.Swan wine you could get a bottle for $1.55.

Hey you two, this conversation is sure bringing back some memories. My aunt worked at the Loco Inn and since I'm just about the same age as Pat, I hung out at the skating rink too. And what about the old Murr Theatre? Those were the good ole days...

Hi Jim, I don't really remember the bowling alley, but I do remember hearing some of my older cousins and my older sisters talking about it. Didn't you say you went to school here ?

Yeah Pat, me too. Kids now a days just don't know what it is like to go to a "scary movie" and come away really scared. That was so much fun !! Do ya'll remember when Savid would come to town? My Dad took me to the Murr to see him, against my mother's wishes because he was too "scary". LOL ! I loved watching his movies late at night....
