There is a big difference between squatters rights and tenant rights.

What's the difference between a squatter and a tenant?

If the present occupant bought the house from the now deceased uncle 30 years ago, what rights or say would his widow have about it in the first place?
And a threat has also been made? Was it reported to the police and fire departments?
Is the uncle's will being probated? There could be time restrictions as far as getting any "confusion" about his property cleared up if the house hasn't already been dealt with, DOCUMENTED AND LEGAL-wise.

You can acquire land by adverse possession, if you are there in the open and notorious. You can also try possession under a claim of right.

A tenant under a lease doesn't get to keep the house after paying rent for 25 years.

Absolutely, number one can she prove they purchased the home? Number two, she must go to the sheriff right now and file an affidavit, to the effect she threatened to burn the house down. But the main thing is let the officials know of her threat. Tell the home owners insurance she threatened the same. And dig up proof of purchase. Why does she think it still belongs to her??

A squatter stays on unowned land a certain number of years, and makes improvements with there money, and after a certain number of years(I don't know how many) Then file a squatters deed at the court house. But you need to see a lawyer to find out for sure.

A tenant lives in someones Else's home, and pays rent.

The documentation of the sale needs a good review IMO. This is a rather unusual situation, I would say. Where is the house located?
