I have three kids, inlaws, and my parents that live in Missouri pluss 100s of friends, a family home in Banch MO. a family home in LeesSummit, MO. and a family farm in Warsaw MO. so whats that mean. Yes like some Wyndotte County, Johnson County and many eastern Kansas towns some towns are effected by this housing mess. But alot of them in South Missouri that are being forclosed on are from Eastern Kansas. They are there summer homes. Some of the same ownners are also losing their Kansas home. They spent to much and it caught up with them. As far as the slump hitting down their its far worse in larger Missouri, Kansas, and outher States.<quoted text>
Thanks for the correction about what's really happening in Missouri. I have to agree with your statement "they spent too much and it caught up with them." Unfortunately that has happened too much around our nation."

I do feel bad that the vote didn't go through but it is what it is.I think if the interm board would have been more on top of what was going on it would have made a big difference.Did the interm board ever recend the vote to have a school in Jewell, Burr Oak, and Mankato? Before the decided to move everything to Mankato.I was at most of the meetings and one thing I seen was RH school board has to ask Supt Walker about every item. County unity? How much money does RH keep in Jewell county? I wasn't at the meeting when it was asked where RH get their food but I was told the president of the RH school board couldn't answer the question. By the way it isn't in the county. Oops RH didn't want that to come out that they don't spend their County taxpayers money in Jewell County the send it to Cloud County and Nebraska. What other money could Rock Hills be spending in the county that they choose to spend elsewhere? Spending money in your county brings jobs. Jobs brings kids. Kids bring money to your school. It is amazing how that works.Correct me if I am wrong. I just think both districts screw up.

Mankato isn't what he said. He said we don't need Jewell is what he said. But it was brought to his attention real quick that they did need Jewell.

What Board representation Did Jewell Lose? Not sure how you count at Rock Hills but in Jewell FOUR IS ALWAYS GREATER THAN THREE!!!!!! How can we lose something that we never had (Consolidation Money) Really think that Rock Hills Lost the MONEY!!!!! What chance do you think we had with a FOUR TO THREE vote? Same thing the unemployed people in Mankato are doing (LOOKING FOUR JOBS DA)
Dear Concerned Jewell Patron: The last time I checked my fingers, 3 is bigger than 2. Good luck getting representation on the Beloit school board whenever it is down the road that you will get the chance to vote.

Everyone needs to remember that school districts are supposed to take bids on what they purchase. they just can't go downtown and buy what they want when they want. Maybe sometimes the local business doesn't even turn in a bid. Anyway, they are like other government units that are supposed to ask for bids and do the same when they sell stuff.

Isn't saving money what we are all worried about. You can shop local wether you are a individual or a business. When the president of the school board don't even know where the food comes from do you really suppose they took bids on the food. I think not.

What more opportunities for sports and the Jewell students will most likely not get play time anyways... that's really what kind of opportunities you guys were looking for anyways.

Yeah, sports can be played for a short while. But an insturment can be played for the rest of your life.
I have three kids in Beloit schools and my oldest whom is 15 has soooo much pressure to compete in sports it just makes me sick to see him have to feel he has to compete and go to zero hour every morning at 6:30 and workout.
Beloit is not too friendly to outsiders I'll be the first to admit. My wife and I are transplants here and I can't tell you how many times we have had the conversation of should we move again.
I'm not saying everyone will give you a cold shoulder but you will find several will.
But if your kid is good at athletics you can be a star. Sick I know. Sometimes I feel as though thats why we are accepted here because we have a somewhat athletic son. We don't pressure him to compete in sports, he gets plenty of that just living and going to school here day to day.
Good luck.
I graduated about 6 years ago from beloit, although i agree with you on the fact you have to be good in sports to be kind of accepted there i disagree with the whole pressure thing. Kids are gonna put pressure on themselfs, they wanna do good in sports more than anyone else wants them to.
