I have been wondering the same thing. Nothing in the paper at all about what is happening in this investigation. When Tracy Jones was charged with shaking that baby several, several years ago - it was all over the Paola, Osawatomie and Louisburg papers. But this is worse then what Tracy was accused of doing and these two innocent babies deaths and the investigation has been kept "Hush - Hush".... What gives????

So "Truth" - you are saying that the investigation into the two babies deaths are being squelched by the Paola Police and the Paola Paper. That is not right - so the famous "Paola Politics" is hiding the truth from the community of how and why these babies died...... How could Kathie Browning have that kind of power in Paola?????

Don't put words into my mouth. I never said SHE has that kind of power. And I never said the pd or paper is "hiding the truth from the community of how and why these babies died". I said its all about who you know.

And don't act like this is the first time for something of this magnitude to be kept under the rug in Miami County. We've all seen it hundreds of times. The paper doesn't have the balls to report on anything controversial without a press release from the pd. The leaders at the paper won't let their reporters do their job and that's why they have a hard time keeping good reporters. Those reporters make no secret of it and you and I know this for a fact.

Nothing is being covered up by anyone! This case remains under investigation. It has to be reviewed by a number of people including the Miami County Attorney's Office. It is not a ONE DAY investigation! People really should know what they are talking about BEFORE they publish their OPINIONS!

R u serious... Why throw all daycare providers under the bus now. Amanda does Home ChildCare, on going Schooling, Continually training to improve her care with her kids and families. If you seen her messing around in the yard, most likely she was showing the kids a treasure, teaching them to explore. Have u ever meet amanda, obviously NOT... this blog/rumor fest is about a provider that totally did WRONG.. Continues to do Wrong, and is being enabled by parents that continue to take their kids to her, knowing what happened. I'm thinking if anyone should of been "fiddling" around it should of been Kathy and maybe these kids would of been outside and got some fresh air once in awhile or got to explore some to actually see the outdoors, inside of being stuck in a basement, and letting the t.v. babysit.

So........'Who not to use in paola". Just curious why you would bring her into this blog? This is about the sudden tragic deaths of 2 infants in our community. If you have a bone to pick with someone, duke it out face to face- don't be a coward and hide behind this blog.

Also you say "She has way too many kids at her house" --how many would that be? Are you sure they are all daycare children? Maybe they are siblings of others being picked up? Maybe they are neighbor kids that just happen to be walking by? So please, enlighten me, and tell me exactly how many you counted when you 'drove by"!

And I couldn't agree more with "paolan for life" , you are simply "driving by" you could have NO clue what was really going on!

Just like, we all have no clue what really happened in the home when the 2 little ones tragically went to heaven way too early!(I am waiting for the facts to come to light before I even think about starting to publically point my finger)

So what I'm trying to say is.......if you have a problem with someone, don't be immature and cowardice, go to that person,(or in this case , call up the state childcare surveyor at the paola health dept to make a complaint) but it will probably do you no good since I'm sure she is already checked out by the state.

Thank goodness "in the know" is here to clear up any confusion one may of had thinking this investigation would only take a day to complete before putting it before Miller. Did anyone say it was a "ONE DAY" investigation? No! And I don't recall saying there is a "cover-up" going on. Would you like to showcase any more of your fine law enforcement knowledge?

The above poster is right... When T. Jones was accused of shaking a baby the papers were all over it. Now, 2 babies have died under the care of the same person and what??? Yep, 5 complete sentences reported only after the second baby died!!! Only 5! Incase you didn't hear me the first two times, it's all about who you know.

In case you missed the 5 sentences here they are:

Paola police detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an infant at a Paola residence Thursday.

According to a police department news release, officers responded to a home in the 300 block of Kaskaskia Street at 2:53 p.m. Thursday in response to a 911 call regarding a 3-month-old infant who was not breathing.

Officers arrived, along with members of Miami County Emergency Medical Services, who performed CPR, according to the news release.

EMS Chief Jason Jenkins said the infant was in cardiac arrest when he was transported to Miami County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident is still under investigation.

The state changed the laws and now daycare providers ahve to go through more trainning and certifications. Thats about all you can do. The rest lies with the parents on who they have watch their children. My advice is if their has been an infant death at the daycare, dont send your kids there. To be on the safe side regardless if foul play is suspected or not.

Olathe Woman Guilty On 3 Counts In Child Death In Day Care

POSTED: 12:24 pm CDT October 6, 2010
UPDATED: 12:43 pm CDT October 6, 2010

facebookdel.icio.usbuzzdiggred dit›› Email›› PrintOLATHE, Kan.-- An Olathe woman was found guilty of three charges Wednesday afternoon in connection with a child's death at her in-home day care.

Jeanette Lawrence was convicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated endangering a child and violation of registered day care regulations.

The 18-month-old girl, Ava Patrick, died on April 13, 2009, in the day care in the 16000 Block of West 148th Terrace.

Court records had shown that Patrick had gotten her neck stuck in a fence inside the house and was found not breathing by Lawrence.

Sentencing was scheduled for Dec. 17. Lawrence's attorney's said they plan to appeal the verdict. Lawrence will remain out on bond until her sentencing, but must remain in the state of Kansas, according to the judge.

Patrick's mother has since created a website to research day care providers Daycareaware.com .

Yes, this is the mother who didn't know the baby had died until she called to check on her. Isn't that the daycare provider's responsiblity to get necessary documentation though?
