New football field? Why?
Homeowners within the USD 420 school district will see their property taxes increase $188 per year.(average). Commercial property owners even more.
Vote NO April 3rd. Say NO to increased property taxes.

It's not a new football field that's desperately needed; Its a new track. Our track athletes risk injury everyday at practice because the surface they practice on is degraded and out-dated. The proposed new facility will not only allow them to practice safely and host a home meet but will also give the community a fenced and lit place to exercise.
This being said the fiscally responsible thing to do is to build a new track with football field in the center. While the football field may not appear to be in bad shape it does need some costly repairs (lighting, recrowning, etc..). If we built a separate track and made repairs to the current football field it would cost us more up front and more in the long run to do maintenance on two facilities.
Also on a $100,000 home(which is slightly above the average home price according to city-data.com ) property taxes would only increase $34 per year. Commercial property is $74 per year for a $100,000 property.
$34.00 a year is a great value and if this project is left to a later date tax payers could pay as much as 4.69 times more due to the potential loss of the 45% state aid effective July 1, 2012 and the near 0% interest we will currently receive on the majority of the project.
Vote YES on April 3rd, so we don't have to pay more for less later.

You talked exclusively about sports. In Osage City there is too much emphasis on sports. Everyone is positive regarding the improvements and repairs to the grade school, however....
Adding on the sports improvements to the bond was a bad decision. Expect an overwhelming defeat due to the sports improvements!
Life is not about sports, 2 years after high school who really cares? Life is about education, not throwing a ball or running 20 mph. Lets not even talk about sports injuries, 1/2 of which do not surface until later in life.
We should eliminate sports and focus on education. Just as a few schools in Missouri have done.
Academic competition is without injuries!

Repairs to the elementary school are the main item on the issue. The sports are just included. The grade school was built in 1957 and badly in need of repairs. This is an all or nothing proposition and including the sports gives us the most band for our buck.

It would be nice to know exactly what the bill includes so we can make an informed decision on how we vote.
