I know, "The Gambler" is about as original as "Tourist" but hey, I'm lazy. And why not keep talking about something that's been done for over 2 years? I still talk about old crimes, some more than a decade old, and make pretend they all happened last night.

Doubtful. In case you missed it the Sands Casino in Bethlehem is doing extremely well.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has no control over what happens in Maryland. There are two very good locations in Frederick County that are within 20 miles of Gettysburg, and they would love to welcome the tourist from Gettysburg and rake in the tax revenue, and provide jobs and new businesses to their community.

I think it is very likely. There will be a casino, either in Pennsylvania or Maryland before very long.

My guess would be Maryland, Gettysburg carries to much emotional baggage with it

You do realize, don't you, that the Maryland line is approximately ten miles from the center of Gettysburg, about seven miles from the southernmost point of the GNMP, and about four miles from the previously proposed site of the casino? Any casino built in Maryland would be located close enough to Gettysburg to draw from the tourists there, along with the billboards and advertising saturating Gettysburg that goes along with it. The only difference with a casino located on this side of the PA/MD line is that PA would not receive the revenue generated by the casino. In my opinion if Maryland looks seriously at putting a casino near Gettysburg suddenly Gettysburg will look very attractive as a casino site. Money talks.

Do you think any possible casino in Maryland that is located that close would hesitate to capitalize on the “Gettysburg brand"? Do you think they will hesitate even a bit to advertise that they are only 15 miles from Gettysburg?

booohoo you didn't get one lol. The locals of Gettysburg whine again because they have no jobs, and high taxes. LOL please come to the Sands in Bethlehem and keep it the on going success that it already is.

Thank you for your support

BTW please feel free to whine about it on Borovent, that's always good for a laugh

Oh absolutely! That would be their drawing card for patrons. And Gettysburg would also have billboards and advertising all around the area as well for the casino.

And I am sure all of those who opposed the casino just north of the line, would enjoy seeing signs all over the area advertising a casino just over the line in Maryland. And those businesses that opposed it will not mind at all people going to Frederick county for their meals rather than Gettysburg.

And I am not sure of the selection procedure in Maryland, but I am sure the name Gettysburg would not have the protection there that it did in Pennsylvania.

I believe in Maryland the people of the affected county get to vote.

If you could only come up with another way to get money into Gettysburg........other then a casino, now that would be impressive. But, its more fun to complain about it, what do they say? Actions speak louder then words, why not get a little action going, or is that to much like work? Its OK we understand you'll just blame it on the history and tourists, who I might add were there long before you arrive on the scene.
You work on it awhile and get back to us
